Description: In the year 1988, we first opened doors as Jaws Seafood Restaurant located on the 4th Floor of Gaya Centre. We served a fusion of Thai/Chinese Seafood Cuisine as well as Dim Sum. The restaurant also hosted banquet events up to 45 tables on a regular basis and soon earned a reputation purely by word of mouth. In 1997, we had a Vision to provide every Dear Guest with our slogan "Where very meal is an Experience". We decided to relocate and rebrand to something BIGGER and BETTER. Every aspect was painstakingly thought of from the Minangkabau -style architecture 'floating' on the lake in a botanical park, the 'floating' performance stage, the naming of the buildings, and to the menu creation. Hence the birth of Kampung Nelayan Floating Seafood Market Restaurant. Currently, we are the ONLY restaurant in Kota Kinabalu to present a NIGHTLY Cultural Dance Performance from 7.45Pm to 8.45Pm showcasing the Largest Indigenous Ethnic Groups in Sabah. Guests are encouraged to get up on stage to participate in some of the dances. We have also achieved a reputation of being one of the Most Unique Dining Experiences in Kota Kinabalu.

We visited the restaurant as part of a night tour of KK. I do not eat sea food so the restaurant was informed in advance. The starter was chicken and sweet corn soup which was delicious. Before we had even finished the soup, 5 platters were placed on the table. Needless to say these were verging on cold before we got to them. These were honeyed chicken, battered fish, a green sloppy vegetable a bit like spring greens ... but it may have been sea weed. a vegetarian soya dumpling(disgusting) and luke warm rice. The honey chichen was nice but very boney and not much meat. My husband liked the battered fish.
The waitresses which served the food were polite and well dressed, but the people who brought the food from the kitchen to the table where the waitress picked it up in the centre of the restaurant were poorly dressed in dirty aprons and dirty wellies and this put me off
The cultural show was a variety of dances from different areas and was colourful and enjoyable.
There were many different foods served at other tables so I think the place must have a vast menu. There were also tanks along the side where you could pick your own fish/ lobster for your meal.
This was not one of the better restaurants we have visited but each to ones own as it seemed to be very busy.

We were here during the Chinese new year month. Apparently the restaurant serves a CNY dish called poon choi. It was our first time eating this dish. It was truly an experience. The claypot filled with various type of food was slowly simmered over a portable stove. We were taught to eat this dish with rice. We also ordered flower crabs, sabah vegetable, clams and sweetcorn crabmeat soup (Sorry, no pictures as I was busy eating by then). We got to participate in the cultural dance and tried to burst a balloon using a blow pipe. Price was a little pricey but totally worth it.

The atmosphere is terrific, with great seafood and nice cultural performance. My kids enjoyed it very much.

The staff is very attentive and very friendly. The food is very fresh and nicely cooked. Although quite pricey but we enjoyed our dinner very much with such a great performance from the dancers. Recommend for family and friends outing.

To what extent is this place authentic? We have tried several smaller restaurants in town and we were quite satisfied with the food they serve where locals eat. I have mixed feelings with this place. It seems attractive, big. The food is not bad at all. But the average size of tables is for families and groups of ten or more. Not for couples. Service is efficient but uninterested.
The dance show may interest some people (if drunk enough you can even participate on stage) but what disturbed me most was the total lack of pleasure or engagement on the faces of the dancers: you could see they just hated being there for the tenth time this week, for these stupid tourists, for a small salary ...

Came here because of a dinner function and the place did not disappoint at all. If you love to eat fresh, delicious seafood & all-you-can-eat buffet, this is a perfect place to dine with family/friends or having anniversary/birthday. Love the atmosphere & surroundings. Quite agree with one review that says the restaurant doesn't have a variety selection of desserts. Too bad that the restaurant didn't served coffee, only beverage drinks, fresh juices & Chinese tea. Avoid wearing short pants as there's mosquitoes under the table.
