i traveled with my husband and 2 babies (age 6 mos and 3) last May 2010. Was my 1st trip to KK. Stayed for 3D2N, Superior - With Breakfast
-It's not located in town but near Universiti Malaysia Sabah and attached to a shopping mall (1Borneo) & made access to restaurants, shops much more easier.
-Nice & friendly hotel staff
-Taxi from airport costs RM50.
-Taxi from hotel to KK town RM30. but free shuttle to KK town available at the mall.
-Room is small & compact but not so much to fuss about. City view, sunrise..
-If u bring ur laptop, u r able to access to Internet (room) & Wifi at lobby
-I asked for baby cot, and its available
-Had to ask for iron and board.
-Breakfast was ok, but I dont see any nasi lemak or nasi goreng during my stay. Only porridge, soup, breads, rice with some dishes, and some other thing for quick breakfast.
- Pool is covered, but has jacuzzi and children pool is available.
I enjoyed my stay there, will come back to KK.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Grand Borneo, we'd already been staying in central KK and wanted to get out of the city for a bit and just chill out. We chose it because we could get a really good price and because it had a pool and gym.

Overall the hotel was really nice, the staff at the front desk were friendly but the house keeping staff are a bit below par. We had to ring several times for an extra bath robe and when some one eventually turned up they had a bunch of coat hangers not a bath robe but we got one eventually.

The pool and gym are ok but the gym equipment isn't as good as some other hotels we've stayed in and the water cooler wasn't working so we had to drink warm water after our work out.

The breakfast was really nice and is served from 6am to 10.30am which means you don't have to get up too early! There was a huge range of food, everything from cereal and croissants to noodles and cooked vegetables so something to suit everyone. We were also given a token for a free drink in the bar on arrival.

I would not stay here if you want to see central KK as it's about 7km out of the centre and it would be a pain getting in and back every day. Apart from the 1Borneo hypermall there isn't a lot else to do in the area which was fine for us as that's what we wanted but may not be for eveyone. The mall has a cinema, a bowling alley and plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes.

We were staying in the Deluxe room and had an extra bed. Room was comfy and trendy, the service rendered at the front office and coffee house were exceptional as the staff were friendly and efficient in delivering our needs. Didn't have to wait long at the egg station and the coffee house was busy for breakfast. The only staff at the egg station was friendly and coped with a friendly smile with the many requests that was coming his way.

Would highly recommend this hotel for those who are travelling to KK for shopping and adventure as we stopped over after staying at Mt Kinabalu for 2 nights. Did some shopping at the 1Borneo mall and kids had a great time at the covered pool.

Friends recommended the hotel next door but after looking at their bathroom design, decided it was not safe for my children or adults as there were steps going into the bathtub...strange design. However, at Grand Borneo Hotel, the bathrooms are well designed and has a shower cubicle in their Deluxe room, love this!

Will definitely stay in this hotel for our next visit to KK.

we had a great stay at Grand Borneo.
initially when we reached the hotel we got a room with out a bath tub. so when i spoke to them i got a plain NO. they said they do not have an availablity. but when i told them we paid for a room with a tub and after some time the manager said he will change it the following day.and yes he did change it for us.
since the hotel is new its modern , and clean. the room service is good. but the biggest problem with this hotel is the lack of lifts. there are just four lifts so you will have to wait for a bit. but then its not a big deal.
and since the hotel is in a hyper mall we had good fun roaming in the mall. oh and if you are a donut lover you shouldnt miss the donut shop in the L1 of the mall. it was amazing.i was there during the chinese new year so i had a great time shopping
the only dissapointment was the food. may be i was expecting better after reading the reviews , they would really need to improve a lot in their food , the food is not bad but not great at the same time.
i should say the hotel is worth every single penny you pay if the food is improved a bit
I WOULD SURELY GO BACK TO THIS HOTELS and would surely recommend it to everyone

We booked the standard room at the Grand Borneo Hotel and the price is about RM 200+including breakfast. The room is nice and modern but its a bit small.I think I had a big expectations on this hotel before I arrived especially from the website and the lobby but it turns out to be just an average modern hotel but we did enjoy our stay at the hotel..

Despite the bad comment on the location hotel, I decided to book this hotel at rm152/nite. Suprisingly it is not that far (ONLY 7 KM FROM CITY).

Overall it is worth it as the shopping mall is just beneath it. I stayed 3d/2n from 22-24/1/2010 and I find the hotel is really strategic as I went to Kinabalu Park, Poring and CIty tour.

We can park the car by the road side which is free instead of in the mall which is quite costly.

Hotel do provide free shuttle every 30min. check out with the receptionist and they will explain the procedure with you.

The car rental company, Bimaz Tours is very efficient and reliable. you can contact them by internet.

Kota Kinabalu is definite a better place than Langkawi.
