“A good choice if you're craving Japanese”
Reviewed 25 April 2010

It was the first place I ordered beef in Borneo, and it was good! The staff was very attentive and acknowledge everyone in Japanese when entering or leaving the restaurant. It's more expensive than restaurants serving local food, but it's a fun splurge if you're craving Japanese like we were!

“AWESOME! We went twice...”
Reviewed 17 June 2009

This place is fabulous. You can not fault the fresh Japanese sushimi and friendly atmosphere. We went twice. It is great value for money and we would definitely reccomend it and would love to go again. On both occasions we just turned up although I noticed they do have one 'closed day' per week and I think it's on a Monday/Tuesday.

“Very Good but not cheap Japanese”
Reviewed 5 November 2008

We read about Nishiki (088-230-582/ 59 Jalan Gaya) on a blog and tried it ourselves. It was a very nice experience but we paid MR150 for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Food was very good, sushi was fresh and served in thick slices, sukiyaki has lots of tender beef and very tasty.

The ambiance was traditional japanese in fact it could be a resto in tokyo. Service was efficient. They have several rooms good for 6 to 8.

We made reservations the day before thru our hotel concerge (who didnt know about the restaurant) The place was 80% full when we had dinner at 7pm on a monday evening in Oct 2008.
It is in town just across street from the Tourism Office. Next door there is a good dessert shop serving italian ice cream. You can walk around the entire area and other restaurants like little Italy and Bella ... are all just very easy walking distance.
