“Best budget hotel Ive stayed at”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2012

When i got to kota this was the first place i checked in to. For what I paid, i cant really complain. My suggestion for getting rooms is get one with a window. It makes a huge difference, but whatever, i spent most of my time out of the hotel anyways.

This place was walking distance to the port for island hopping and its close enough to the downtown kota area.

the front desk people were super helpful in helping us get around the island. although they did recommend us to stay at a super wack place when we went to Mount Kinabalu.

Room Tip: Get the rooms with the windows

Staying 2 night with family recently. Tick all the boxes, nice private reading lounge equips with microwave oven and fridges where you can used and stored your daily necessities not even 5 stars provides this basic amenities. The hotel is within walking distance to pier, restaurants and shopping mall in the area. The super market next to the hotel offers very good selection of food, fruits and drinks too. We had a pleasant and enjoyable stay and would definitely come back soon.

This is a conveniently situated, clean and pleasant hotel. It has a lounge area and a fridge to share with other guests. The staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. I stayed there with my daughter and it suited us well. There are restaurants nearby for eating. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good basic place to stay. It is not a luxury hotel but very comfortable. The tour Ling Ling arranged for us was perfect.

I agree with pretty much everything I see in the last few pages of reviews, so I won't repeat all the good things people have said.

I'll just mention that the internet connection gets terribly overloaded in the afternoon and evenings, to the point that it'll take minutes to load a page. It took me forever to check in for my flight, because the (impatient Air Canada) site kept timing out before it could fully load the seat map, and I'd have to start over. And over. I did have a strong WiFi connection to one of the two access points (right outside my room), but the connection to the outside internet seems to be the problem - it isn't up to the usage demands of a full hotel.

They do have a computer in a common area for guests who don't have their own laptops, which is a nice touch. And a shared fridge, which is a reasonable substitute for having them in the rooms.

I had a studio room, which was just a bit bigger than the king bed it contained, but it had everything I needed. A/C was effective and quiet.

The reception staff makes the difference in this place. So friendly, so service oriented with many good tips. We enjoyed every minute staying here. Room was only rather small, internet worked well in the room and there is a fridge available for joint use. Hotel Eden 54 is a 15 minutes drive located from the airport in Gaya Street, a charming, tree-lined street with hotels, Chinese medicine shops, tourist information, local restaurants, banks, law offices, etc. One of the main shopping centre is one block away and around the corner you find a fantastic supermarket (with good wines). We enjoyed walking to Signal hill (view point), looking around at the evening barbecues at the sea side, the market and the Sedco food complex (where fresh sea food in water basins is offered ready to be prepared but do not forget to negotiate first). Hotel Eden 54 offers a excellent price/quality combi. Highly recommended.

We stayed here a couple of nights. Rooms are very good value for money. Location is perfect, everything in the city is within walking distance. Staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. They will make your stay one worthwhile. Don't forget to ask ling ling about the tours, she will arrange everything perfectly.
