The concert is everyday held very near 9pm-1am. So depends on your room. You cannot sleep until 1am. I stayed room of 47 which is very clam and has big window.

Cons: Live band performs and since you in the middle of everything you'll hear cars drive by. It's not that big of a deal if you bring ear plugs.
One side of the hotel had the water pumps bust so they moved everyone to the other side, we stayed because we liked our room and just crossed to the other side for the bathrooms/showers.

Pros: The staff are all pretty friendly, helpful, warm, welcoming, and have some character to each of them.
The rooms are incredible for 10 USD a night + tax. I stayed in a very highly rated hotel and it wasnt any better then this at like 3x the price. Book off Expedia. Love the beds and everything else. We were on the 2nd floor and sounds didn't travel through so easily.
You are near everthing you want to be. If heading to the Night Market or the Islands(44 MYR for 2 Islands), through Jesselton Ferry (which are the 2 best things about this city) the hotel is almost as close as you can get to between the two.
All in all the main part I enjoyed about Kota was the Parrot Fish (which i just found out hurts the ecology so i havent again) and this hotel.

I hope this was helpful ;)

Good central location, the most lively place in KK at night that I met and I was lucky enough to have had a room above it.

I stayed for a couple of nights in a single standard room, shared bathroom. Very clean, large bright room with large windows onto the high street, good cold A/C without remote though.
Shared bathroom was also large, clean and the showers where hot and powerful.
The live music starts around 8pm I think, then trails off around 1am. I slept fine due to the supermarket across the road providing me with a bottle of Thai sleeping whiskey each night.

I booked this place through agoda because it is cheap & near to the ferry terminal (that heading to labuan)..anyway, i arrived kk at 10.30pm n reach to my place within 17min only..when i reach the reception, the lovely lady receptionist inform me (at least i know) that this area will be noisey until midnight or 2am/3am...im like "oh my god!!"..but what to do..as long i can sleep & i get use to those music

Anyway, about me room, it is very clean, got hanger & i can see outside see those live performance band at the balcony..the wifi ok too..the good thing also, each guest will have gate card to open the gate (in front of reception)..so i feel secure & not too worried..so i just stay here for one night only

So for those who love drinking, shesha & live band performance..this is the place for you

Excellent location. Near major shopping centre, pubs, supermarket (across the street) and Gaya street. Sunday morning market is just outside. There is a bus stop for airport bus (RM5 as at Aug 2015) round the corner behind Horizon Hotel - less than 20 m. Room is very clean and place newly renovated under new management. Only negative point is that its just above a pub with live music from 9 pm to midnight. Those rooms facing the pub may be noisy if you are an early sleeper. Breakfast included but only toast, coffee and tea. Left luggage and safe available at reception. Good WiFi in room

Room tip: Try to get rooms facing the street or behind. Avoid those rooms directly above the pub.
