Overall this is a nice place to stay. I might consider to stay here again if i'm going to KK again.
Pros: Free airport transfer (as it's very close to the airport), friendly staff, clean and cozy room, clean toilet, a laptop with internet access is available at lobby, walking distance to tanjung aru beach but it'll take about 10-15 minutes (they do provide transport to there but will charge RM10 if not mistaken), adequate breakfast.
Cons: Free wifi but the signal is weak and sometimes inaccessible, the double bed is very small (we stayed in triple room), so with the room.
* They provide car rental service but it's advisable to get car rental from other agents, unless you don't mind some of the payment will go into them (we knew this from the car agent on the day we returned the car).

The Crown Borneo Hotel totally exceeded my expectations

I found the rates to be rather reasonable
They faithfully responded to all my emails and patiently answered my queries
They picked us up from the airport
Arranged our tours and the like
However, the room, though not very spacious, was very sufficient in that it provided me and my family a quiet and cozy place to spend the night after staying out in sunny Sabah during the day

- Very near the airport
- Aircondition was really cool! Perfect for an Ice Child like me ;)
- Beds were not too soft but still were comfortable enough for a peaceful night sleep
- Bathrooms were clean and water was hot
- Coffee and Tea are provided in rooms
- TV is alright
- Breakfast was served hot and with a few options for one to choose from
- Airport transfers are available as well as tours
- Good places to eat are very near (Chinese, Malay, Indian, etc)
- It is not situated in the busy city center of Kota Kinabalu (Tanjung Aru Beach is very near)

Not to mention, Miss Grace and the rest of the staff were all very attentive and friendly to guests
I am impressed!
Staying here felt more like I was in a relaxed place!
I really felt I was on a quiet holiday

Give it a try!

this place is right next to the airport. They pick you up and drop you off the next day. The rooms are comfortable and the aircon works well. There is a decent TV and the bed is kinda hard but otherwise fine. Breakfast was good and the staff very friendly. Not too much around but if you're short on time and just need a place to stay in transit this place works just fine. Some airport noise but the planes stop flying pretty early at KK airport.

Room Tip: I think the higher up you are, the more quiet the room.

I stayed there on an overnight for a diving trip. The rooms are quite small and they don't have lifts, so be prepared to carry your baggage upstairs (not good if you have diving gear on top of the baggage).

Breakfast was very, very basic, they advised they charged for extra butter.

It should be ok if you are backpacking.. but in that case I find the price (130RM a bit steep).

The good thing is that airport transfers are included and it's not too far from the airport.

We booked and stayed in this hotel overnight between flights because Crown Borneo Hotel was advertised like airport hotel. But... it was big mistake. Distance from airport to this hotel is 10 minuts by taxi for RM 15. But to reach centre of Kota Kinabalu where are a lot of very good hotels takes only 15-20 minuts for RM 15 - 20.
First bad surprise when we received key from room on third floor was that there are no elevator but we had enough heavy luggage (dive equipment and others). Also there was only yang girl on reception at 11 p.m.
Second surprise was very small and dirty room with toilet where water flow never stopped... Air contioner was also very old and produced only some noise.
There was only one advantage on early morning - shutle bus to airport for free. But next time we preffered to pay for taxi...

Really friendly hotel which were understanding and very helpful when i realised that i'd booked for completely the wrong night. They quickly sorted this out, picked us up from the airport and got us booked into a room. Area around the hotel was really interesting with plenty of local restaurants - not all with english menu's but we worked it out. Free wi-fi was a bonus.
