We arrived for our 3 night stay in the dark and rain, with luggage and had difficulty finding J residence as the signpost is not prominent enough. We negotiated the steep and slippery driveway with minimal lighting. Had to ring the doorbell twice before getting a lukewarm reception. No information forthcoming, no help finding the room, (which was further down the slope) and in the dark. The room was a decent size but was cold and felt damp. We immediately went to the nearest restaurant which we had been told was open until 1930 hrs. It was closed by 19:00. Incidentally, we returned to this cafe 2 evenings later at 1830 pm, it was completely shut up then, too. It was gone 10:00 pm on our first night's stay before we realised the water was cold and we didn't want to disturb the manager at that time. It was still cold the following morning. There was no TV reception, despite what we were led to believe from J Residence's website. We had been left one DVD, 2 or 3 others were added during the stay. We struggled to get our issues resolved, or to get any information about the residence, the location etc from any of the staff, who spoke little English. We can only assume that Joshua, who is mentioned in other reviews as very helpful, and had answered our emails promptly prior to our stay, was away during our stay. A repair was made to the water towards the end of day 2, resulting in warm showers, still not hot. The bathroom is very basic and open to the elements. Fortunately the duvets were necessarily snug. We were in 5B which in better weather may have had a good view but the terrace was shared with 5A, the occupants of which kept taking all the patio furniture that was originally positioned outside 5B. Our experience might have been greatly improved had the weather been better.
