We arrived for our 3 night stay in the dark and rain, with luggage and had difficulty finding J residence as the signpost is not prominent enough. We negotiated the steep and slippery driveway with minimal lighting. Had to ring the doorbell twice before getting a lukewarm reception. No information forthcoming, no help finding the room, (which was further down the slope) and in the dark. The room was a decent size but was cold and felt damp. We immediately went to the nearest restaurant which we had been told was open until 1930 hrs. It was closed by 19:00. Incidentally, we returned to this cafe 2 evenings later at 1830 pm, it was completely shut up then, too. It was gone 10:00 pm on our first night's stay before we realised the water was cold and we didn't want to disturb the manager at that time. It was still cold the following morning. There was no TV reception, despite what we were led to believe from J Residence's website. We had been left one DVD, 2 or 3 others were added during the stay. We struggled to get our issues resolved, or to get any information about the residence, the location etc from any of the staff, who spoke little English. We can only assume that Joshua, who is mentioned in other reviews as very helpful, and had answered our emails promptly prior to our stay, was away during our stay. A repair was made to the water towards the end of day 2, resulting in warm showers, still not hot. The bathroom is very basic and open to the elements. Fortunately the duvets were necessarily snug. We were in 5B which in better weather may have had a good view but the terrace was shared with 5A, the occupants of which kept taking all the patio furniture that was originally positioned outside 5B. Our experience might have been greatly improved had the weather been better.

Very close to the front gates of the national park down a steep driveway. We had a twin room, turned out to be its own bungalow in excellent condition. Tea/coffee and DVDs. Good BBQ areas and close to cheap decent food in the restaurant opposite the park. Compared to prices inside the park which were huge, if you're a pair on a budget this is great value. Checked many places around and thought this the best value. No need to pre book park or accommodation outside peak seasons, many people just turned up and all was good.

I good place near Kanibalu park. Calm and cozy. There is a hot water and tea in the room. !50 meters in direction to the Kaniibaly park there is a cafe, where you could have berakfast and lunch with good price.

Room Tip: Queen single 5A good view form terrace.

We spent 3 nights in House 1 - it's clean, it's comfortable, you've got everything you need. Laundry service was quick and not expensive at all, and it was really great to have some dry clothes, since in December, the climate was quite moist and most agreeably cool (around 25 degrees).

In terms of food, we'd suggest the smaller restaurant on the road to KK, about 3 mins walk rather than the one directly opposite the park entrance. Service is _much_ quicker, friendlier and, above all, the food is a lot better!

Also, forgetting something at J Residence is not a problem at all - we've had always quick responses to our e-mails and Joshua and his staff were most obliging! ;)

I have just came back from Kundasang few days ago. It has been a very pleasurable stay for both me and my girlfriend. We have a nice balcony in which we got the nicest mountainous view. The service staffs were also very friendly and helpful.

If I ever going back for any expedition or holiday plannings, I'll certainly put J-Residence as one of my top choices =)

Room Tip: Try getting rooms online as soon as possible to secure nice mountainous view from your balcony

In general, a pleasant experience one could reasonably expect to live near the nature.

Positives: nice basic room with reasonably sized bathroom, pleasant little private deck with hanging egg-shaped chair and free wifi. Be sure to bring your sweater, it gets cold at night.

Negatives: power failure for 10 minutes during the night around 11pm (Good thing there was emergency light). Hot shower here sucks (it works but the pressure is low).
