I stayed for 3 days in J Residence that my friend had recommanded.
the room was cheap, but all the staffs were very very kind.

The terasse was very good place for the small and cosy party!
Me and my malaysian friends could enjoy the breakfast and dinner there.

Besides, we could watch many species of birds perched very closely.

Nice J Residence!

Room Tip: It was a little cold in the night.

We stayed 2 nights at J-Residence. It was recommended by a local tour operator in Kota Kinabalu. It is excellent value, with great views. It does get cool in the evenings so make sure you bring warm clothes. We stayed in 5A and also 3B. The hot water was warmer in 3B however the water pressure was better in 5A (the water is lukewarm in 5A). However we would still recommend this great little hotel as it is very good value for money and so close to Kinabalu park. There is no breakfast included however there are a couple of restaurants close by so this wasn't an issue. If you are climbing Mount Kinabalu this is a great place to stay before and/or afterwards.

Room Tip: 5A and 5B have the best views but the hot water was warmer in 3B!

This hotel was awesome!! loving the bedding, quilt, view and just the hotel itself .. Snuggly built on the hills with nature surrounding the rooms . however it does get very cold in the late evening and nights . So, this is a tip i would give, boi water and fill the bucket u have in the bathroom mix in with cold water and soak ur feet . it does get the body back to room temperature .. =)

Checked in at J today and was surprise to see the room n bathroom were so spacious. They have dvds for u to watch which makes it a plus point if u r bored. Surronding is filled with lush greenery and serenity amd they even have a bbq pit/common area.

What i expexted more was the water pressure of the showers, they were quite low. Would be great if there is mat to dry your feet in the room. Other than that, no complaints.

Location wise is quite convenient with the national park jz 300m and easy access to 2 reataurants nearby (walking distance)..

Overall its value for money and worth it =]

Strategy location, clean room, good price, beautiful and nice place with helpful staff.
But if you are a light sleeper, advisable to take the both room (A & B) in one chalet..
Because the floor made up by wooden and the any moving from neighbour room might cause some annoying. Basically my neighbour (next room, gosh..... they talking till very late night...... :
and they let their car engine start and on for at least half hour at the very ealry morning.. the sounds are very annoying..... -X

Room Tip: Room 5A & 5B, but 5B is better, advisable take the both A&B room for more privacy and quiet...
