We thought long and hard about doing this adventure because we heard that you have to be physically fit and the thought of the boat tipping over scared us. But we decided to try it out in the end and we do not regret our decision one bit. As the other reviews have mentioned, you will first be taken to the Beaufort train station by bus. After that, you will take a very old diesel powered train to the starting point and the train ride was absolutely amazing! We sat on the floor in the carriage that was meant for cargo with our legs dangling out of the train and that was absolutely amazing! For those who are worried about their spectacles, the company provided rubber bands to fasten your glasses or sunglasses to your ears. You can also wear goggles if you are wearing contact lenses. The guides were very friendly and made the trip exciting. For those of you who are afraid of the water, as long as you stay calm, you are safe as the guides will come and get you quickly. Photos are sold for RM100 and photos&videos for RM150. This was indeed one of the highlights of my trip to Sabah so if you are still considering joining this, stop thinking and start living!

A slick and very professionally run operation. River guides meet the boating party and accompany them from pick up, to river run and accompany to drop off. The safety briefing is comprehensive, and the equipment is in good condition, making for a safe introduction to rafting along an undemanding, but satisfying hour long run down a section of the Kiulu River, with opportunities for swimming, body rafting and, for the slightly loopy client, capsizing. The trip normally ends with a well prepared and presented buffet meal at base camp. The briefing advises against bringing extra cash, but there are photos to buy, and the chance to use a zip line at the base camp, both of which need to be paid for in cash. M$1-200 cash in a zip lock bag is a good idea.

We went rafting with riverbug and it was a good experience, always better with some heavy rain just before you do this however. They were a good professional company with great equipment and instructors, the included lunch was good too. The rapids we went to on the day were good for beginners, we all managed to get knocked out of the rafts which was great fun as youre never really in danger with so many instructors around and wearing decent life jackets. Good fun, good company, i would recommend this company

I'd never been white water rafting and the river was perfect for beginners. It rained a lot the day before we went so the course was 15km (can be only 7km when rain is low) and it took about 1hr 30mins, enough to tire you out before the fantastic bbq lunch! The rapids were fun and a bit scary at times but really exciting! And the guides are fantastic and have a great sense of humour and made the whole experience great. Definitely recommend this trip!

PS there are no lockers, you keep your bag with your change of clothes on the bus which meets you at the end, so don't bring lots of cash/valuables if you're worried about them being stolen! Our stuff was fine as it's on a locked bus but you never know.

Being from Colorado, rafting is a common activity during the summer. My boyfriend and I were hesitant to pay so much for something we do for free at home but it was a great trip! There is always good and bad though.

The good: it had been raining in the afternoons the past week so the river was running high. The rapids were class III and IV. There are opportunities to swim in the river alongside the boat. The train ride there is a bit dodgy but goes through beautiful country.

The bad: they provide free water but everyone takes their waterbottles on the raft with them. There's a good chance in high water that you will flip and there go all those plastic bottles floating down the river. Also the guide didn't give enough instruction on how to paddle!efficiently. The 4 guys on the boat with us barely paddled and since my bf is stronger than me, our raft would inevitably turn sideways and into the rapids that causes you to flip. Plus the kids didn't realize that when actually paddling, you must be in sync. I was at the front setting the pace but the guy behind me kept hitting my oar with his.
