The staff here were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good, but on one morning it was somewhat crowded. We did not try the restaurant.
We had 2 single nights there and one of our rooms was on the 12th floor and had a lovely view over the sea. The rooms were fine but not all rooms have baths.
The swimming pool was a reasonable size with a fine view over the harbour as it is on the 6th floor.

The room is clean, spacious and modern. A perfect stay for business trip or even honeymoon. Breakfast menu was great but if you stay more than one night, you might get boring as it served the same dishes all over again. Location-wise is right smack in the middle of the city...which is very convinence. Rooms with sea view a must. Value for your money and will definitely stay here whenever i'm here in Kota Kinabalu

I would call this a boutique hotel, close to all amenities in Kota Kinabalu as we stayed 9 nights they gave added benefits, which was a lovely surprise.
The breakfast was more than adequate and the rooms lovely and clean.
Our room looked out towards the water and had a good view. I would imagine if you did not have the airconditioning on in the rooms it could be a bit noisy, as we experienced one afternoon, but as you would normally use the air-cond it seem to buffer all noise out.
The staff were EXCEPTIONAL and extremely friendly, nothing was too much bother and they were always happy to assist. I used the tour booking at the hotel and they were very helpful.

If you like Gyms you will love theirs, it was large with lots of equipment. As you will see in most of the reviews, the pool is nice but there is nowhere to sit which is a shame as the outlook is pretty good.

All in all I could not fault the hotel - I have just posted a review of another hotel we stayed in just after visitng this hotel (paying three times the price) and they could learn a thing or two from the service levels at the Horizon Hotel - We would certainly stay here again.

The restaurant across the road was excellent and also close to Gaya St Markets on a Sunday.

Room Tip: We used the Spa at the hotel, this was lovely and also had dinner at Asian Restaurant (pretty good...

We stayed at the Horizon hotel for 10 nights towards the end of october, and found our experience quite enjoyable. The hotel is located right in the heart of the city centre, opposite the town hall on one side, and the major post office H.Q. on the other side. The hotel is quite new with a contemporary feel about it.The decour and furnishing has modern styling, with dark timber panelling in the rooms, and very comfortable king size beds. We found the rooms very spacious and relaxing. You also have LAN access which made it easy to keep in contact with the outside world. The bathroom was well designed, with a large shower and plenty of room to place your toiletries on shelves or in draws. Hardly had the mirrors fogging up on us as the shower was ventilated well and no water pooling on the floor, a plus for the hotel. Our room faced the city centre/town hall, and was nice looking at life passing us by. The swimming pool and gymnasium is located on the 6th floor, however we did not spend too much time there, as it was limited with room, three deck chairs, and we shared one to allow others to use the others. But it was refreshing to go for a swim, especially in the afternoon, when the hotel is not casting a shadow over the pool area.Breakfast at the hotel was delicious, with a good saelection of local, aswell as western style of foods, although the tables were a little bit odd/ uncomfortable. We also had dined at the Asian restaurant located opposite the hotel reception, which was nice.
A short stroll towards the west, around 400 metres, you come to the local vegetable, fish and meat market.South from the vegetable market, you will arrive at the phillipino markets, specializing in local handcrafts and souveniers. It was interesting to see what items they had on offer, and thier were plenty of fresh water pearls for sale, at very reasonable prices. If you head north from the phillipino markets, pass the vegetable markets, thier are alot of outdoor restaurants which open for buisiness in the evenings, selling wonderful seafood at very cheap prices. We had eaten at one restaurant, a few times, and we purchased a snapper, a flounder, rice and vegetables with drinks, for around 60 ringits, around $20 aus dollars!!! Deliciuos....
If you come out of the hotel front entrance, and turn left, heading north for 100 metres, you will pass a taxi rank, and a supermarket. You can purchase most things here, at cheap prices.Keep heading north, and towards the water (northwest) you will come across a couple of big shopping plazas, consider getting money converted here as the exchange rate was excellent. Thier are plenty of really nice local and cosmopolitan restaurants around the hotel, selling delicious meals, at reasonable prices. If you are at the hotel on a sunday, thier is a local market on which, they close off to all traffic, and it's great to go look at what things locals are selling. You can buy tools vegetables, handcrafts, clothing and even pets.
One more thing, if you arrive at the airport, thier is a taxi stand inside the building, and a set fee to get a transfer from the airport, to most hotels in the city, should be around 30 ringits. When we left the hotel tocome back to the airport, we had organised a taxi to pick us up, and the price was the same. I dont think people would try to rip you off here, the people were very helpful, not pushy and always smilling. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others, and if we do return, we would stay here again.....

This hotel is centrally located and you can easily walk to the jetty and take a boat out to the TARP islands for the day at preset rates. Don't bother paying tour package prices. The Asian restaurant serves good food downstairs and the breakfast has something for everyone. Markets and groceries are nearby. 30RM to the hotel from the airport during daylight hours. Good for the price!

Room Tip: The oversized twin beds slept one adult and small child comfortably.

It's newly built, I can even see the promotion on in-flight magazine on Air Asia. It's in perfect location, so not far distance walking to west for seafood restaurants or east for pier to islands near by. Front desk is helpful and professional, we got a free upgrade to sea view room. Room layout is very special, they also provide 2 power sockets with global styles so you don't need to bring adaptor. Out-door swimming pool is on the 6th floor, closes around 8.30pm, with 3 deck chairs available. With the position in the north side of the building's 'waist', it's in the shade until noon. You can enjoy sunshine in the afternoon and sunset view is nice.

Some recommendations:
1. More keycards: we only got 1 key card per room and people should swipe card in elevator, even guests on other floors could not help you to stop at yours. So if one of us went swimming, the other one in the room might lost power, or else the swimmimg one should ask frontdesk to activate the elevator. Good security policy but I heard it's because of the lack of cards.
2. Edge of swimming pool: the edge is made of little chopped stones rather than rounded mosaic, so it's a bit sharp. It's hurt when you throw your arm when swimming in freestyle.
3. Space: the distance between desk and bed in sea view rooms are quite narrow. It's hard to move the big chair and find a comfortable position.
4. No Wifi in room: we have to use wired network. so no luck for wifi based devices like smart phones and pads.
5. We have to close the curtain if we want to watch TV during day time since the TV is facing to window in sea view rooms and its surface would reflect light.
6. Pillows: one is too high, the other one is too low for me....

Room Tip: they provide free upgrade based on availability. go for sun bath in the afternoon. special layout s...

Stayed here for 2 night early nov 2012.

Rooms are good, not great.
We had a bathtub in the room itself seperated from the actual bathroom, kind of funny but nice, used it too.
Location is good, some shops and restaurants close by.

Staff is very friendly and helpfull.
