We went to this island for an afternoon. There is very little space to sit on the tiny stretch of sand. We snuck onto a hotels patch of sand. The water was warm and clear, lots of fish. Toilets are grim. Preferred Sapi, the snorkelling was great. Gaya island had lots of rubbish floating in the water! This island is over populated with tourists.

Unforgettable experience.
Small island, nice sandy beach. Wonderful coloured fishes. Giant lizards and nice monkeys.
In Philippines I was really happy to meet locals.
Life there is really far from our european standard and local people with their humble attitude and their smiles make me understand how much we have to learn and how a simple life could be very rich and bring happiness..and that's something we'll never forget.

I check online for a tour to Mamutik before arrive in KK. Most of tour agents charge RM150 p/p including lunch on the island. I went there and found out it is so easy to go to the island by public ferry service booked by myself at Jesselton Point jetty. I end up spent only RM65 (see price list below) instead of 150.

After negotiating a little i was given a RM10 discount.. so in fact i only spend RM55 instead of 150!!.

Sadly corals mostly are dead but fish viewing is still a joy. When arriving in Mamutik facing the jetty spend more time on your right, swim up to the edge of buoyant to get a slightly better view of (dead) corals and fishes.

Large crowd of Chinese/Korean tourist clot the beach this has really impact the marine life at the park.

There was some good reef and coral on this island, ask one of the divers where or else you end up with the Asians standing on dead coral in murky water
