This is not a zoo. I saw a couple exiting the place, the girl throwing a tantrum and ranting about how she got ripped off for nothing. If you go thinking the animals would come out and wave hello to you, then go to the zoo.
This is a sanctuary, a place that allows the animals to be in their natural environment.
Best to go alone, minimise noise. Tread slowly so as not to make a sound. When you do not intrude with your human sounds, the animals tend to come out.
It was not the season of the purple heron but I saw one. Real majestic, standing at its full height. And it let me watch for a long time. I could not believe my eyes.
Yes, of course it smells. It's a mangrove forest. Great respite from the city madness.
