“Best place in town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 January 2012

An excellent location in the centre of town. We stayed here just before xmas and were pleasantly suprised at the high standard of service from the very busy staff. The suite we stayed in was massive, comfortable and very well appointed, just the place to return too after some busy daily sightseeing excursions.
The executive club facilities and service were probably the best we experienced throughout our Malaysian vaction. The daily lunch buffet in the foyer cafe was simply fabulous with so many goodies to choose from.
Overall a very pleasant stay consistent with Hyatt's other hotels worldwide and would return there again if and when in KK.

Room Tip: Rooms/suites with harbour views were the best to enjoy the spectacular sunsets

Last minute booking for the New Year. We stayed four nights. The hotel is around 20 minutes from the airport, airport taxi or hotel provided transport is available. We upgraded to "club" room which allowed access to the club lounge. The view across the bay in the evening is impressive.
The hotel is slightly dated in the general appearance, however, the standard of accommodation is good.

We generally ate in the ground floor restaurant, the food was good with most nationalities catered for. Buffet lunch and evening buffet was of good value. If we was to visit again we would pick this hotel

Room Tip: Try to book sea facing room

We stayed here for a couple of nights before heading off trekking then again at the end of our trek. As it was our honeymoon they upgraded us to one of the seaview suites which was gorgeous. Lovely room, lovely view and excellent amenities.

The breakfast was particularly nice. I had freshly made pancakes drizzled with maple syrup - divine!

As I said we were trekking so very hot sweaty, dirty and tired when we turned up and not an eyebrow was raised by the lovely staff.

Good position in KK, although Le Meridan probably closer to the centre. Room comfortable, with open plan bathroom arrangement. Internet connection only available through Ethernet connection in room.... When will the big chains learn, customers want wi-fi not 20 year old ancient technology, even if only in the lobby. Fortunately, local coffee shops solve the problem! Breakfast average. Hotel a little tired, needs an uplift in public areas.

Just spent two nights and one full day at the Hyatt and thought the experience was ok. We arrived late at night and checked in straight away. The rooms were very large and very modern with all the expected amenities. Our rate did not include breakfast and although we missed the buffet breakfast, we were all quite impressed with the American breakfast (30MYR). We spent the morning at the pool, which had a nice view of the ocean, but unfortunately not actual beach access. The weather wasn't great and rained throughout the afternoon. The location of the hotel is great for exploring town, though KK isn't the niceset/prettiest of cities so there wasn't much to see.

The next morning we had the buffet breakfast (50MYR) which I thought was terrible, the quality of the food was horrible and variety was very limited. For the price of the meal, I was very disappointed. On that note, we had a four beers at the Shenanigans bar the night before and was shocked by the price. I had heard it was the most expensive bar in town but couldn't believe they actually charge 22 MYR per beer!

I chose the Hyatt because we wanted to be in town for a few nights before heading to Manukan island but after seeing the Shangri La Rasa Ria while visiting the orangutans and the Sutera Harbor Resort while waiting for Sea Quest Ferry, I had serious hotel envy. The Sutera was actually less expensive and included multiple pools, beach access, activities and various dining options. If I were to visit again, I would not stay at the Hyatt given that other hotels offer so much more for the same price.

There were 7 of us who stayed at the hotel from 24th to 28th Dec. I've got to admit the Sea View rooms did look exactly like the photos on the hotel's website. It's nice and modern. The rooms could probably do with some minor touch ups as there were a few scuff marks here and there and perhaps a bit of attention to detail on the windows as all I could see were hand marks when the sun sets.

Breakfast was not as impressive as some of the major hotels. The rattan furniture in the foyer makes the place feel a bit dated (circa 1980). Waiters/waitresses didn't seem to take orders well. We'd ask for a cup of coffee or tea and it would never come. So our safest bet was to ask two different people, you either end up with one or two. It's a bit of hit and miss.

If you're after a more resort feel this may not be for you. There's not really that much to do in town. However, it was perfect for us.

We booked an ocean view room at the Hyatt Regency and were not disappointed. Hotel is very well located, easy walking to a number of shopping centres, Jalan Gaya markets, night markets and many many good cafes and restaurants nearby. Housekeeping service was a little hit and miss (fresh hand towels one day, not the next, soaps and water not replenished daily), gym facilities and swimming pool quite small but well maintained. Enjoyed high tea and drinks in the lobby cafe, all at a reasonable price.
