“Wonderful!”
Reviewed 18 December 2012 via mobile

I stayed at this hotel for one night. Everything was superb except I didn't like the fact that I was given a smoking room when my reservation was for a non smoking. They quickly rectified their mistake. However, there was no two single bed available for ocean front. I told them I will gladly wait. Room was very clean, great staff! If you like shopping, this hotel is for you. It is semi adjacent to a shopping center. I will stay here again because of the location.

Even though this hotel has been opened for some years I believe their rooms must have been refurbished within the last couple of years as they seemed brandnew. Very spacious and I loved the sliding door to the bathroom as it makes the room look even bigger. I had a very short stay of only about 6h at the Hyatt Regency Kinabalu but even though I arrived after midnight Front Desk still managed to arrange transportation to the Bus Station for 6am the next morning and sent a detailled map to my room. Very friendly and efficient staff!

This place has a mix of positives and not so positives, on the good side we have the location, very centrally located and convenient to walk, rooms in the exec. Floor are nicely remodeled and staff is friendly. On the opportunities area the hotel general feeling is tired and old, not much tourist information is provided, I was sent to a seafood place for lunch that only opens for dinner, it is a boring hotel with not much personality. Food choices are limited. Would not recommend if you want to experience Sabah, its beaches and sun

Loved the room and the staff. Prices for food, drink, spa etc. are offensive like many other higher end places in KK. The breakfast area lacks atmosphere and somehow feels a bit rough and grubby. I wouldn't bother going back.

Room Tip: Sea view is the only way to go

The location is really good with the hotel surrounded by lots of shopping malls. Walking distance to the famous food street "Gaya Street".. cheap taxis around town from the hotel. Location is really the main plus here. Staff were friendly and helpful enough always carrying a smile.

Misses..

- Hotel felt old and dark
- Only 1 hour free wifi, further internet connection incurs a charge..
- Breakfast was really bad quality. Variety very limited and food quality is below par.
- We had a sea view standard room which was ok for value. Sea view was not bad but nothing spectacular.
- Slippers were paper thin - dislike.
- cleaning of room was not very thorough
- sound proof was BAD. Could hear kids shouting in corridor in early hours in the morning
- Room service selection was like...non existing. Very limited and not to my taste personally.
- No mini bar / kettle?!?! This is a first I have seen a room without these amenities seeing it claims to be a 4* / 5*...even 3* hotels / rooms have kettles and tea bags etc!

Next time I would probably try one of the new more modern boutique hotels / Le Meridien instead.

If you want to be the center of everywhere else then do stay here as the location really is quite unbeatable and room was "ok" as long as you do not expect too much..

Room Tip: Club Room / Suites

Stayed one night to attend a wedding.

Generous sized room, large bathroom and nice amenities. Separate bath and shower.

My room overlooked city. If you can upgrade to a sea view it would be worth it. Hotel is right in the middle of town with a lovely food market immediately over the road. Big variety of cafes and restaurants near the hotel.

Fantastic choice of food at breakfast buffet including Ais Kacang! Their signature Oxtail Assam Pedas is defintely a dish to die for!

I would definitely stay here again.
