“Nice, but needs some updates”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2013 via mobile

The halls and public areas need a complete refurbishing. Other than that, the hotel was very nice. Excellent staff, very helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was good room was modern, clean, everything worked, nice size, comfortable bed. Pool area was good and comfortable. Location was very good for what we wanted, close to the dive shs and the jetty where the dive boats departed from. The diving in the nearby park was great with good visibility and plenty of underwater life some trash washes in from the city. All in all we'd definitely go back.

I ended up my trip of Borneo with a stay for a few nights at the Hyatt Regency and it was wonderful! Food was amazing - especially the buffets which were beautifully and artistically designed as well as delicious. The staff were so helpful and kind to us while we were there and keen to assist us in any way they could. The pool facilities are great too, with enough sun loungers. The rooms are stunning and bathrooms are great too with really good showers. It is in a good location as well which is great for if you are out at night. Highly recommended!

As the title explains. This Hyatt is average compared to other Hyatt's I have visited and stayed in. The rooms have been refurnished which gives it an appearance that it is a new hotel but in reality it is not. The only comment I can add to my review about this hotel you cant beat the location which is near to the ferry terminal (island hopping) and to the biggest mall of the city. The pool is nothing out of the ordinary. I didnt use the pool instead I visited different islands and swam in the ocean. I need to emphasize. It is all about location if you want to be in the city and near things. You want peace and quietness then visit any of the resorts OUT of the city

I got a good package price for 3 nights in KK Hyatt Regency, and just came back this dawn!

The hotel locates in the very center of the city, just 5mins to Gaya Street (the main street). For sure the city center is not big, but considering the humid hot weather, easy connection still makes sense.

Room is quite spacious, with the separate shower room & rest room, which I love a lot. Hotel staff are kind & friendly.

I have to say this is more a biz hotel than a beach resort, so cannot consider it in... that way. Like you cannot walk directly from pool to the beach. But for KK, most of people go there will not stay in the hotel (yes i remind you, normally no matter where to go for fun, you need to take 90 mins bus and may probably plus water jet etc). So i'm fine with it.

Breakfast is ok, nothing quite special and taste is normal one. You could enjoy Chinese style, Continental one and Japanese as well.

SPA is quite fully booked, since KK, unlike some Southeast countries like Thai, SPA is not so popular there... not many choices so all go to hotel SPA. The therapist is average, kind but not very skillful, however i still have some rest after a whole day playing water.

there were some positives, like the sea view and nice room however it was totally ruined by needing an early call (4.45am) and then being put on a floor where the banging bass from a function went on until at least 1 am. considering we had booked an alarm call you would have thought they would have told us about the likely noise or moved us to another floor. They also "forgot " our early packed breakfast and so people were scurrying around trying to put it together while the taxi waited to take us to the airport. Wifi is "free " but only for an hour and then chargeable, I used it for 20 minutes and when I went to log on again it told me I had already used my free hour.... come on this is the 21st century, you get free wifi in coffee shops that charge nothing like your rates

Room Tip: choose another hotel

Most of the reviews say how fabulous the Hyatt is.

I must say all my other hotel reviews have been higher but I did not enjoy my experience at the Hyatt:

Pros: very central, large rooms, room service is delicious (try the muesli in the continental package it's butcher and full of fruit and nuts)

Cons: some of the staff were very welcoming but the manager at the front desk was quite rude, I had to move rooms due to the noise (large family next door with screaming children) and the bathroom had a very smelly pipe, the door locking system is very noisy so when ever anyone opens their door you can hear it throughout the hall ways.

I would expect better from the Hyatt .... I will not stay here again

We arrived for one nights stay as we were travelling to Hong Kong the following day. Check in queue was short but we waited 20 minutes. An apology was given, and accepted. We advised the hotel that we would be checking out very early the next day and were advised the hotel would provide a packed breakfast, which exceeded our expectations. However in the morning it was not ready and that was disappointing.

Rooms are ok, and slightly weird in layout but are comfortable.
