“Good for its Age”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

Perfect location in town centre if that's where you want to be. Check in was efficient and room on no smoking 8th floor was well appointed. Good air con, good shower, comfy bed, flat screen TV with DVD player. Complimentary WiFi speed was quite acceptable, and higher speed is available at RM30 for 24 hours which is very reasonable compared to KL/Singapore hotels. If you are lucky enough to get a sea facing room, it is a spectacular view. Which brings me to one of two complaints. A fantastic sunset was shaping up after a hard days diving out on Gaya. I wanted to sit and watch it with a cold beer. The Regency Club lounge on the 12th floor is only open to members and club floor residents. This an an outdated concept. I didn't want free drinks or free nibbles; I wanted to relax and watch the sunset in my hotel and pay for a drink. But I couldn't. Instead I went out and watched from the promenade and I could see there was hardly anyone in the said lounge. Secondly, breakfast. There is a major renovation ongoing now of the big atrium where breakfast usually is. So breakfast is in a restaurant facing the car park. But all the blinds are down and its a really gloomy dull atmosphere. Breakfast should be a sunshine and daylight filled experience. In fact I'm amazed there is no restaurant facing the sea. What a waste of a fantastic view. Thats said, the choice was excellent at the buffet and staff efficient. And tasty coffee; always a good sign. So management - please raise the blinds. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: You have to get sea view.

I was there for 2 days and a night and believe me it was an amazing stay. with the excellent and nice sea view which I actually requested for it.

The customer service was marvelous. It was actually when we were about to go out and it was raining but not that heavy yet they offered us the hotel's umbrella. well for me its really a caring and kindness from the staff themselves as I have travel a lot and when it comes to something like this, some hotel's staff wouldnt give any care at all, but Hyatt does. I know its just a small matter however thats the thing. Small matter does count.

Any way Im just a bit disappointing on the reservation site. Maybe the one who Im dealing with was not in a good mood but still we're guest.

one more thing is, please ask the technician or whoever is incharge in room maintenance to check the room for any defects before guest occupying the room as I think most of the guest will not feel that much comfortable if the technician is repairing on something while they in the room
Other than that, everything was just really good.

Room Tip: I will recommend the sea view room. it is really remarkable

We stay there for 6 nights and it is fantastic.

Fantastic 5 star service- Staff at front desk and house keeping are very friendly and helpful. I request a higher floor as usual when I check in but the young man at front desk propose to take the 5/F which will have the best view. I agreed and the view was great.

Fantastic Location- It is just in the middle of the Town. A medium size shopping centre is just next to the hotel (you can change money there), and just take 5 mins walk to the Habib Jewels. You can reach everywhere in the town within 20 mins walk.

In conclude, all is about comfort, safe, and great view.

Room Tip: Pick the 5/F, Great sea view.

It is located right smack in centre of Kota Kinabalu town. Eating, shopping etc is mostly walking distance. I was awed by the great overall customer service. A couple of front desk were average, but the rest were really good. My write up about visit to Sabah and Hyatt http://fyi-penang.blogspot.com/2014/04/sabah-kota-kinabalu-trip-planner-series.html

We were glad we picked this hotel in KK. It's not a 5 star that you'd get in a big city but in terms of quality and location in KK it was the best one we saw. Most things are an easy walk from this hotel and rooms are spacious and comfortable.

The renovations going on were no inconvenience as we didn't hear any noise and were out most of the day. Staff were always happy to assist and breakfast was included and very varied

So much construction is currently taking place at the moment. Nevertheless, Hyatt Regency has given their best in making their guests and visitors as comfortable as possible.
Polite and friendly concierge. Had a smooth-no-hassle check in at the reception. Staffs were polite and were helpful as they offered to take my luggage up to the room. (Most hotels will not have the courtesy to offer).

Room was massive! I find the interior was a little unique and eccentric! Loved it. It didn't look like the normal typical hotel we'd usually see. It was as if the bathroom was a part of the bedroom. They have retractable doors if you would like some privacy.
Located in the middle of the town, thus making it really accessible to nearby shops. No need to worry about wanting to try the local delicacies. They are all just a few steps away.

It was a short stay only for the night and I had to check out really early the next morning. I didn't have the chance to have breakfast.
In all, I would definitely come again and its highly recommended!
