nice location, sometimes and issue with parking, most of the staff seem helpful, the rooms are nice and it's great having a DVD player in addition to the channels. The buffet is huge and ok if your starving. The ox-tail was nice but overall the quality is underwhelming.

Having stayed here for 2 nights, I must say I was thoroughly spoiled. Though there is no "beach" to speak of at this property, it has definitely one of the most beautiful room views of the South China Sea! It is quite a treat to wake up to lovely blue skies and waters. The room itself seems to have been recently renovated and has a very natural + airy feel to it - the window also allows lots of natural sunlight to spill into the room, which is one thing that I love. There was no bathtub in my room, but the "open concept" restroom area, with separate shower and toilet areas, well made up for this lack. Though there are renovations going on in the lobby, you can barely feel the effects of it or hear it.

The concierge team also made arrangements for us to experience some KK white water rafting and this too is highly recommend; at RM 150 per person, this was definitely a experience not to miss. Overall, the location of the hotel is also the best in the city. There is a huge mall right beside it with (clean and decent) massage parlors, nail spas, and bakeries and an even flashier mall located just 5 minutes away. The hotel is also a few meters away from the Sunday market.

Room Tip: Spend that extra money to get an ocean view room - it's money well spent.

The location of the hotel is located on the water. Most of the hotel has now been renovated, Rooms and Club lounge and Pool all new and nice. The main restaurant is under renovation so thats closed through 2014 so they have a temporary main restaurant which we didn't eat in. The Japanese restaurant is Great and very authentic. It's worth it since nothing is really good in KK for food. Also the smaller cafe they have at street level called Mosaic is also good and nice for lunch or dinner. If you have booked a Club room it includes the renovated Club Lounge which also has a nice private breakfast and a light high tea / dinner from 5-7 pm. Great staff up there too. Spa looks a bit old and needs work by the way, same for the gym but still had a lot of nice equipment. By the way we did go for dinner one night in the Le Meriden, Fair ! and the hotel is old. The only other nice option is something new near the Sabah Mall called G Hotel. It's new. Or the Shangri-La about 15 minutes away, old but nice.

Stayed for a night. Got a room facing the sea with fruit basket loaded with banana. They remembered my favourite fruit!

Had my iftar at the hotel and i must tell you that it is the best that I have had in Sabah. Full of choices from oxtail assam pedas, grill mini wagyu beef burgers, lamb ribs, oxtail noodle soup and the list just go on! The best part of it is that not only they provide surau for prayers but they also perform terawih prayers. This gives us plenty of time to enjoy the good food.

The only downside is the sahur. Mine was served cold but was not nice. Will surely return to this hotel.

Huge effort is being put into the Hyatt refurbishment and its being renovated in 2014. I had the chance to stay in a seaview room and its nice. The Seaview room faces the waterfront and one can have a ful view of the island ahead and also the activities on the sea. The outlets are new but there was no chance to experience the new lobby lounge.

It's a long walk around the rooms, and good that they were brightly litted.

Overall, I think the staff tries and staff at the coffee shop are friendly and nice. I like the Hyatt for its location and its easily accessible to Maybank, Little Italy, the central market, Filipino market, Upper Star, and also the pearl outlets.

Room Tip: The seaview room are good.

I stayed at the Hyatt on the club floor...
Awesome view of the sea front and islands....I was mesmerised by the sunset each evening...
Staff attending to us on the club floor were very attentive and efficient.
If this is your first time to Sabah, check with the concierge for tour recommendations. The Mari Mari cultural tour is a must.

The hotel is conveniently located between 2 malls.
The Sabah Shopping Mall is upmarket and modern while the other, Wisma Merdeka Shopping Complex is essentially stocked for locals.

Eat at the food outlets on the second floor of Wisma to experience the authentic taste of Sabah. But be warned, it does get spicy.
There is also an excellent, low cost food court on the top floor of Suria.

You can take a nice stroll along the waterfront, it leads to the markets that comes alive at night…

Be wary of the seafood stalls though, the way they kept swatting the flies, it would not be a good idea to eat there.

Room Tip: Stay on the club floors facing the sea.
