Dear Olivia Z,

Thank you for sharing your staying experience at The Pacific Sutera Hotel with us.

Your compliments regarding our guestrooms, staff and facilities delights us very much. Glad you enjoyed the fascinating sunrise view from the room. Another one of the must-do in Sabah is to watch the sunset by the beach with a cocktail in hand. We hope you had the chance to enjoy the panaromic view while you were with us - if not, that calls for a return visit soon!

Best regards,

Stay there for 4D3N and cant have enough of it. The place, the view, the people...the service...everything is just IMPECCABLE! Although KK may not be a shopping heaven, but it is undeniable that KK or to be precise Sutera Harbour Resort is the place whereby u will be "heavenly" pamper in everything. U have it all here. The beach by itself may be small, but guess what the resort has around 4 or 5 swimming pools with a different designs and one even came with a slide for the children.

Ooooh..first thing first...this resort comprise of 4 different hotels which each one of it comes with a different theme

1) Pacific Sutera - more to the biz and elegant type for the pro... and biz man
2) Marina Sutera - for golf lovers and those who are more into the water activities
3) Sutera Sanctuary (situated at this Manukan Island) - more to the outdoor @ hiking, jungle trekking...etc
4) Magellan Sutera - more to the resort @ relaxing.

U have everything here! We just leave the hotel to the town for a while and get back in less than 3 hours (shuttle service is provided)..as we just loveeeeee this place! U can try all sort of activities here...from ship cruise, snorkeling, scuba, train cruise......they have it! Oh did I mentioned they even have their own billiard room, kids activities rooms, their own marina sutera's theater.

Well..take time to explore it and we will certainly be back again for more. To Ms Kueh Lian See..thanks for recommending us to the Family Suite and u are indeed a gem to the resort.

We recently stayed in a Pacific club seaview room, upon arriving at the front counter we were taken up to the club lounge to check in, felt very special with that extra attention. We were greeted with a lovely refreshing drink. Escorted to our room, was absolutely impressed, the room was just perfect, so comfortable. The grounds are wonderful and a great swimming pool (you can also visit the facities at the Megellan). The Pacific Sutera has a swim up bar at the pool, the happy hour is just that, such an enjoyable atmosphere, staff were fantastic as well as the cocktails.
There was only a couple of negatives, all with the club facities:
We stayed at 4 different hotels all club rooms while in Malaysia. We found the Pacific Sutera club lounge quite a sterile place, no atmosphere. Also facilites not that of a 5star hotel.
Our first visit they had run out of Gin, so we had vodka and lemonade (sprite) only to find after a couple of drinks they had no lemonade.
On a morning visit I ordered Egg in Toast of the menu and my husband ordered a meal. He received his meal and after waiting for about 10 minutes I asked where my meal was, it appeared there was a problem because there was no tomato's (my breakfast was an egg in toast, tomato's, beef bacon, and sausages), I was only served the egg in toast and a sausage, not quite the breakfast I had ordered.
Another time at evening canapes there were no crackers left for the cheese, so I requested crackers, 3 single crackers were brought out.
Also another time there was no coke left to drink, so this time I said that there must be some on the hotel premises somewhere, maybe a phone call downstairs to see if some could be brought up to the club lounge, I mentioned that as my minibar had not been topped up during our stay, I could not supply my own Coke, even though this should definately be necessary when you are in the club lounge.

Room Tip: The Club Seaview Room is absolutely perfect.

We have stayed at both wings of the resort and in comparison we would recommend the Pacific over the Magellan.

On this trip we stayed for 7 nights in May at the Pacific, booking 3 rooms for our family.
Although we were unable to access our rooms until 2pm (we arrived at 10.30am) the Front Desk staff kept us well informed of the progress and accommodated our special requests (non-smoking, rooms side by side on same floor etc).
We spent the time at the pool, swimming and relaxing and enjoying a lovely lunch. Promptly at 2pm the Front Desk Staff came to find us, delivering our room keys.

The rooms are spacious and well appointed, although I do admit that the decor is dated.
The beds are comfortable however we all prefer to sleep on very firm beds.
Everything in the room was in working order and housekeeping did a great job of keeping the rooms clean.

We were very pleased that we opted for the marginally more expensive Ocean View Rooms as the scenery was constantly changing and constantly beautiful. We never tired of watching sunsets over the water.

Being given access and cross-charging privileges to all restaurants and amenities across the entire resort is wonderful. This includes the Country Club's fitness centre, swimming pool and sports facilities; and golf club. It also includes all restaurants and bars at the Magellan; and access to the Shuttle Bus.

Best of all are the very warm, friendly and helpful staff at the Pacific. We were always greeted with a smile when we arrived back at the Hotel and the staff genuinely interested in our "adventures". I think that this is due to the fact the Hotel Lobby is fully "enclosed" due to a/c; and so there are always staff at the door; in comparison to the Magellan with it's grand and massive open plan architectural style.

If you are wondering which of the 2 to choose, I would recommend the Pacific for these reasons:
1. it is a smaller property and therefore you don't spend so much time getting from room to pool; room to restaurant; room to lobby
2. it is cheaper than staying at the Magellan so you can use your savings to stay longer; or upgrade your room category
3. it offers great value for money considering that you can still access the Magellan's bars, restaurants and pools
4. the pool (in my opinion) at the Pacific has a nicer setting than the pool at the Magellan. It is a large pool located on the beach front
5. it is a little closer to the sea activities centre at the Sutera Harbour Marina, for day trips to outlying islands
6. THE STAFF at the Pacific were wonderful.

Breakfast was plentiful and never overcrowded in the restaurant. However after 7 nights I did find the offerings monotonous but this is no fault of the Hotel.

My only real complaint is that wi-fi is not available in the rooms. As the Pacific is marketed as a "business class" hotel I find the lack of in-room wi-fi unacceptable for a modern hotel. Having wi-fi in the Lobby only meant that the Lobby was often crowded with people sitting on the floor, on the indoor flower beds or anywhere - with their mobile devices and chattering away via Skype or Facetime etc. I hope the management of Sutera Harbour will soon provide free wi-fi throughout the Hotel, in keeping with other 4 and 5 star resorts in Asia (and the world).

Although the resort complex is not in the CBD of Kota Kinabalu the resort shuttle bus is frequent, efficient and inexpensive. Taxis to and from town are plentiful and are charged at a fixed price of RM15 (A$5) so there's no worry about being ripped off or having to bargain for the best price.

Wherever you choose to stay at Sutera Harbour, you will be sure to enjoy.

Room Tip: Opt for the Deluxe Seaview Rooms - they are worth the extra $

Stayed at Pacific Sutera.
Hotel is reasonably well maintained.
Room is not old, and clean.
Service is great, very prompt room service but only when you get on the line.
Location is average but shuttle service is provided for a very small fee.
Food is good, and enough facilities to keep one occupied for two days.
Concierge service is friendly and nice.
Overall good experience.

Room Tip: was told by reception that a better family hotel would be the megallen sutera

We recently stayed for 6 nights at the Pacific Sutera. Our experience was mostly very good. The rooms are large and clean. Whilst service can be inconsistent, the staff are generally friendly and helpful. The pool area is nice and across the Sutera Harbour Resort there are plenty of restaurants and amenities. We did spot the General Manager wandering around the grounds inspecting the property and I do believe the intention here is to provide good quality of service and a welcoming stay.

However, here are the disappointments:

1. A bunch of Spice Girl wannabees moved in to the room next door part way through our stay and on their first evening were partying in their room until the early hours. We called the front desk and then had a security guard banging on OUR door asking what the problem was. Seriously, you could hear the noise from their room right at the other end of the corridor. He then knocked on their door but then it was obvious were the complaint came from. The "ladies" then immediately decided to bang on our wall and shout even louder.......the security guard must have heard this but did nothing. We then heard another guest knock on their door and ask them to quiet down, so it wasn't just us they were bothering. Regardless, they continued to be noisy. We then asked to move rooms. So at 2am were moved to another room where we had a sleepless night as we were so angry. How come we were being penalized for the behaviour of rude and noisy guests. The new room was not to our liking (on the noisy atrium) so we were moved to a suite on the top floor for our final night. It was nice but hardly any compensation for moving rooms twice and having a sleepless night.
2. Similar to the above, staff seem unwilling to deal with rude behaviour around the pool area. Kids ( and adults) bombing into the pool, splashing, screaming, taking giant inflatables into the pool despite the signs saying this wasn't allowed. I know I sound like a killjoy but at times it was ridiculous, our stuff by our sun lounger regularly got soaked and trying to relax was difficult.
3. No wi-fi in rooms is not acceptable in a 5 star hotel.
4. The unfriendly lady in the business centre charging me 60centsRM for printing my boarding pass. How mean is that!!!!
5. Finally, there is a nice coffee shop on resort. I would have liked to have got my breakfast there but it didn't open until 11am forcing us to visit one of the expensive restaurants for breakfast.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the atrium.......you'll hear every door slamming on 12 floors. The tile floors a...
