Stayed in Pacific Sutera for 1 night to end our KK trip. The room design is of old fashioned and tired. Hospitality is no where compared to the 5 stars hotel that I have stayed before. Nothing that is extraordinary and memorable

We visited the pool bar at Magellan Sutera, and ordered some beers. It was another ugly experience having to deal with the counter with misleading information and intends to charge us extra indeed there were promotion going on. Even after we have found out the promotion, they were just so reluctant to revert the extra payment. Shame on such establishment.

The worst experience was the sub standard buffet dinner that costs approximate RM 100 per pax with low quality food and limited spread. It seems they are catering for the tour group customers. Food was not replaced promptly, and some of the meat items was replaced with cheaply prepared steamed egg which was completely not acceptable. We made a complaint to the manager on duty and no one really bother with this. If you are staying here, it is recommended to eat out and don't waste your money here! Certainly not worth the money.

This hotel is only minutes away from the KK Airport and along the route to the KK city centre. Breakfast selection was good, with a vast range of Malaysia and continental spread. What this hotel lacks is the beachfront and the beach atmosphere that KK is known for.

Dear samoy75,

Thank you for sharing a review about your stay with us at The Magellan Sutera Resort in December 2012.

It is heartening to hear of your compliments about our facilities and amenities.
In regards to the beachfront and beach atmosphere, both The Magellan Sutera Resort and The Pacific Sutera Hotel has a private and exclusive beach area that is surrounded by swaying trees and an amazing view of the ocean and its tropical islands in the distance. Hotel guests can enjoy the spectacular panoramic sunset view with a cocktail in hand, which is a must do when in Kota Kinabalu.

That being said, we hope to have an opportunity of welcoming you back to Sutera Harbour Resort for a renewed experience.

Best regards,
SHR-Management.

I stayed at the Pacific Sutera for 6 nights. The complex is huge and some parts are really good. The best thing about the place is the friendliness of the staff. however the building is tired. We had a leak in our ceiling which kept us awake for most of a night and yet it took over 6 hours to get us into a new room. The new room was bigger but I wasted several hours waiting for the maintenance person to come and replace the safe which broke.
The swimming pools are good and there is quite an array of maritime excisions on offer. You need a taxi to get downtown but they are inexpensive and arranged by the Conierge.
The a la carte food is quite good but the breakfast buffet is huge and noisy with vast numbers of people. For those old enough to remember, it reminded me of Butlins in the 1950's although there were few clients speaking English .
Suitable I think for those travelling in large groups or with children.

Dear yeti5,

Thank you for sharing a review about your recent stay at The Pacific Sutera Hotel.

Your compliments about our facilities and amenities are highly appreciated. We would also like to add that we provide City Shuttle service from Sutera Harbour Resort to Kota Kinabalu City Centre which is chargeable at RM3.00 (Adult), RM1.50 (Children 6-12 years) and complimentary for children below 6 years of age. This service requires advance booking and tickets are available at The Concierge. The return trip back to the Resort is based on seat availability.

In regards to the room, we sincerely apologise for the leak in the ceiling which you encountered, as this is certainly unacceptable, and not a typical guests experience here at the Hotel. We have addressed the concerns you mentioned, and appreciate you bringing them to our attention.

As our valued guest, your feedback is of utmost importance as it has opened our eyes further into understanding our guest's fulfillment or disappointment in our Hotel's services and facilities. Rest assured, it has been shared with the concerned department for further review and appropriate action.

On that note, we value your patronage and hope that this experience will not deter you from visiting our property again. We look forward to welcome you back in the future for a much more positive experience.

Best regards,
SHR-Management.

We stayed at Le Maridian and this resort at KK and the Pacific Sutera was easily the best.
We tried the Magellan for 1 night and whilst they share the same facilities, the buffet breakfast wasn't as good and the rooms were older and needs a revamp/renovation. The Pacific however was a lot nicer/newer.

This Resort has all the required facilities for a great holiday. It has its own Ferry/boat service which takes guests to the 3 Islands nearby. (Sapi was the best of the 3 islands). A shuttle bus that goes takes you to the main city every hour (for 3 riggit, or less than $1US return trip)

It had 3 massive swimming pool areas including a full size Olympic pool as well as a kids waterslide area, 2 small beaches and several restaurants including Ferdinands, which was one of the best fine dining restaurants we've eaten at. Service and food was comparable to western restaurants with a 1-2 Michelin hat rating.

If you're a golf lover, there is also a 27 hole golf course which was also well maintained and challenging enough to even please the hardcore golfers.

We couldn't find a single fault in this resort and is worth $200US per night relative to other hotels in KK for a relaxed holiday.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

What a beautiful hotel, can't wait to get back there again, perhaps, we might get an upgrade to an executive suite they sound just amazing. Our room was looking a bit tired, but, have been told they are upgrading the rooms. The air-conditioning in our room being the top floor wasn't as good as it could have been. We did find that the balcanies tend to look on each other a bit too much. The interal shuttle bus is great, and the shuttle bus to town is great too. The staff treat you as if you are so special, they are lovely. They have "happy hour" in a few different bars/restuarants, which was also a nice surprise. We have stayed the The Shangri-La, but, would go back to the The Magellan.
LinPerth.
Also the Boneo train trip was good day trip, with much thought gone into it.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are good, and I think most have a view,

Interesting to read that house guests have to run down the road to Jarod.an Rowlings (tripadvisor review on J an R)to get away from the HOY-POLOY at the B'fast Buffet in the Pacific Hotel at Sutera Harbour.
I have been to the buffet many times over the years and have been happy with the food and good service BUT have observed that the vast majority of guests behave like MONKEYS at feeding time in the ZOO !!!
WHAT with the AUSSIE GUESTS with their singlets an Thongs with HANGOVER written all over their faces to the loud and rude Koreans that swam around the buffet like bees.
And the poor local s dont have a chance.
Tour Groups and Animals should be given a separate buffet somewhere else in the hotel.
Or you find the NICE people will stop going there !!!
