We stayed at the Magellan Sutera Hotel for 5D/4N for our honeymoon. Note that the exchange rate from Peso to Malaysian Ringgit is RM1.00 = PHP14.00 and to USD 3.07. So it is advisable to have your dollars changed to Ringgit than to pay in dollars.

LOVE
1. Free shuttle every hour going to the city which makes it easier for us to explore the KK - shopping, Filipino Market, Handicraft Market, Seafront Area, etc.
2. Location - very near restaurants, money changers, etc.
3. Staff were very accommodating to our requests - ice buckets every day, towels, room service, and they were also very informative.
4. The Sutera Harbour Resort was composed of 2 hotels - Pacific (business type) & Magellan (resort type) - we had the choice of using both hotels' amenities at our leisure. We loved our long walks at the harbour.
5. Hats off to Ernie at the reception and Roy at the concierge =)

LIKE
1. Buffet breakfast was the same everyday but the choices were plenty and it suited our Asian/Western taste.
2. I like the veranda style of the room where we could eat in open or just have tea and coffee overlooking the sea/garden.
3. We tried their Buffet Dinner at Five Sails - so many choices again! Wait staff were very attentive.
4. The hotel is near KK airport so we did not have much problem with time and checking in.

NOT SO MUCH
1. I was not fond of the style wherein the bathroom opens up to the room via sliding wood window (near the bath tub).
2. There was no bidet for the toilet.

Note that most of the days we were out - Kinabalu Park, Poring Hot Springs, City Tour, Klias, Tunku Abdul Rahman Park =)

stayed 2 nights. found the place full of convention people and group bookings. ervything - especially breakfast was a disaster and very frsutrating.
The rooms were ordinary - especially when you cosnider the supposed 4.5 star rating. The staff constantly played the I dont understand card everytime it got difficult. Breakfast would eprpetually run out of oingrediants and nothing would happen until you complain.
there was no power near the bed unless you leave the lights on. There were way too few lifts. The prices for drinks around the pool were extreme for this part of the world. The hotel is too far from the city to walk and shuttles ionly run at a time when no one would want to travel.
There was no wireless internet and wired internet was a major issue for them.

Arrived after midnight, quiet lobby. Reception gave my keys and gave directions to lift after query.
Room 611 is a standard twin room with stains on left side of door - leaking toilet I suppose.
Dusty louvres, old linen - torn underneath - maybe somebody thought it may go unnoticed.
Working mums -my conference buddies and me wanted to know more about the spa but no leaflets to entice us. Need to take turns on the lone bike at the gym if you want to burn the calories..Oh! No need for that - the food was nothing to shout about anyway, Better deals available at the Ocean Seafood( really yummy!).
Perhaps that Pacific was aimed at male golfers who'd play day and night and gobbled up anything edible.
For a first visit I had hoped for a lovely sojourn but was disappointed - that old hotel at the distant tanjung still warm my heart.

It is one of the best hotels I have been to.

What I like:
1. Nice view of garden and sea
2. Resort style with spacious shower/bath room
3. Easy access to city with free shuttle bus every hour
4. Good breakfast
5. The most important, friendly and helpful staff. We got all our travel tips from the cornige. They are like friends and tell you all you want to know. They call taxi and freelance tour guide. These people make your stay there a very pleasant and easy one.

What I don't like:
1. TV is old and picture not clear.
2. Anything optional is expensive. Extra bed is RM150. Buffet dinner is RM100/person. Bike rental is RM20/hour. Internet access is RM50/hour. But to me, I can do away with these as it is for my family holiday. And they waive extra bed charge for me :). Dinner is expensive, but you can take free shuttle bus to city centre which is just 10 minutes away. There you can enjoy good food and night scene.

Resort has two wings, the Magellan is newer with many pools. The Pacific is more of a business hotel. The lobby is oversize, like a hangar and not very attractive. Hotel rooms need upgrading, they are a little run down. Best feature is the breakfast with all kinds of western, Malaysian, and Chinese food. Chefs hand make fresh rotis while you wait with lots of curries and lentil type fillings. Rooms are large with free wife. A good place for families since it is relatively inexpensive with rooms going for about $150 and lots of room for kids to run around,
