“Unbelievable service!!”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

We stayed here 7-12th August 2014 as part of our honeymoon. The service we received from ALL staff was outstanding, There was nothing which was too much trouble, they all ensured they greeted you even if you were just walking past and made us feel so welcome.
The room views were beautiful with beach views from the balcony and jungle hills from the rear of the hotel.
The room itself was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped.
I would highly recommend this resort to anyone travelling to Kota Kinabalu, although it is quite outside the city centre it is cheap to travel, including the hotel taxi service. Well worth every penny spent here and if we ever visit Borneo again we would definitely re-book here.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view, well worth it.

Spa: The most expensive massage I have even had in my life, and I have a massage almost every month. One hour of massage for almost 90sgd. Massage is ok, nothing outstanding, actually they don’t massage head at all, and only maybe 2min of feet. Honestly, waste of money.
Restaurants: Terrible service. Waiting time is very long to get menu, place order and get food. There are not many people so there is no reason why only after 15min from placing the order we were informed by the waiter that satay is not available. Price pretty high for the quality of food, and service.
Bar: They don’t have vodka or tequila. Only gin and whisky, and some beer is available. So if you want drinks, bring your own.
Rooms are clean, beach is very nice, clean water and beach. I liked the garden, it's well-kept and clean. Very quiet place, best to go there with a big group and your own liquor. Overall it’s good to go there for 2 days, the longer you stay the more upset you get with the quality you get. The service at the reception is good, but at the restaurants is terrible. If you get a room without breakfast you need to pay app 25sgd for breakfast, and they bring you bills when you are in the middle of eating.

The rooms and facilities have been aging all the time but I didn't see professional maintaining being carried out. The beds are old and hard and the sheets have stained. The beach is nice and the food is good. But the main thing is that the facilities have not been maintained well.

Staff is friendly and smily but a the end, it did not make up for the disappointments that I experienced during my stay.

First I booked an Ocean "Panorama" view room and the "Ocean Panorama" what blocked by trees (see room tip below to avoid this kind of disappointment). When I called front desk to complain about it, I was answered tat I had a discounted price room with Agoda that is why I was put on the second floor....Aside the fact that you should never ever give that type of answer to a client. I answered that they hence should not market this room as Ocean Panorama View!!!! Hotel did offer to move me in upper floor for my last night however.
Room was spacious, good amenities provided in the bathroom with nice flat screen but there again image quality was poor. This Hotel might have been a 5* when it opened 17 years ago but not anymore.

There is clearly an upper management issue in this Hotel. Any question you asked to the staff, they seem a little bit helpless.

The water of the swimming pool was not very clear, when I asked local staff as why the water had this colour, was answered to wait 5 minutes they will call someone on the radio.........Ok! Apparently water in the pool has not always been like this...then I'll pass on it. Wet bar at the pool is an embarrassment beyond a new fresh paint job.

During my stay several time in restaurants and bar, I asked for drink or dishes and was answered that it was not on the menu anymore or they did not have it anymore. During all my stay there was no vodka available for a drink at the Sunset bar... was answered that they run out of it in a 5* hotel????......lately discovered that they had vodka but at the darlin darlin the other bar of the Hotel... One Time went at 0300pm for bite at the King Fisher, The Main restaurant of the Hotel to eat Beef Satay. After 15 minutes waiter comes back saying that there was no more Beef Satay.. How could you run out of Beef Satay at 0300pm in Malaysia?????

Overall lots of small disappointments that did not make me enjoy my stay as I planned to

Room Tip: If you book a Ocean Panorama view, make sure to double check with the hotel what floor you will be...

I personally like to visit the resort despite a few hiccups in the pass. I love the beach & white sand. anyway, let me start with complementing a few improvement.
1. Majority staff r friendly n helpful. (Previously thy seems to practice double standard services. Basically customer services r poor )
Now.. areas that need improvements:
1. Room r not well maintenance for a 4 star resort.
2. Landscapes poorly maintain compare to my last visit. (U can see ths nearby the swimming pool)
3. Beach cleanliness ( if u ran/walk/jog along the beach all the way to the villa u will see bottles, plastic r all over)
4. F&B (Its very obvious the kitchen doesn't hv chef/experience crew handling the food, I ordered beef burger cost me $28 all I got was burger with beef+fried onion+uncooked french fries+2 spoon sauce?)
The Sunset bar.. oh please! Do something about it or just close it. Old floor n ceiling fan. Very sad for 4 star resort. Food r sad!
5. Main power; areas 1. housekeeping 2. maintenance
Thank you

Very nice place for sunset! Our room is ocean panorama deluxe room which supposed to facing ocean view. However, a little disappointment due to the ocean view was blocked by all the trees. Thus, balcony is not clean for us to sit and relax to enjoy the view. For a 5 stars hotel supposed to provide all toiletries but lack of toothbrush and toothpaste. Overall is a good place to relax.
