We travelled with a few families. Pool and beach were fantastic, kids and adults all enjoyed the facilities. Buffet breakfast had good variety. Though some other meals were a bit disappointing taste-wise, and especially so since they were local dishes.

For holiday create all conditions for enjoying people. Very different restaurants: local, Chinese, European and many. Swimming beach is very convenient and wonderful have sunburnt. If you want sport go to the Gym and water sport. Staffs very kindly for example Harun, Billy, Christina, Arthur, chief Rosdi and best organizer general manager Mohamed, for example Running Competition for distance 12 and 6 km. Partake about 800 people and gave each t-shirt and own number. Very interesting decoration and for people did run very helpful. I never seen in the resort's on the world like this competition. I'm Amangeldy and my wife Ayka enjoying, staying on Nexus Resort Karambunai.

I stayed at this beach resort to relax for a few days after Mt. Kinabalu climb. The guest room was very spacious with a nice ocean view. I felt the bathroom needed to be renovated though it was maintained clean.
The best thing about this property was staff working there. They were all kind, helpful and pleasant to interact with.

Just one thing to note. I would have been tired of eating inside the property all the time if I had stayed for longer than a few days (though there are several options). However, it is far from K.K. center and the hotel offers only 3 shuttles to/from the city (30 RM per person round trip). It would be worth renting a car to get around.

Nexus is our number 1 resort in Asia! The resort is build on a sort like peninsula approx 45 minutes by car from Kota Kinabalu (attention : much traffic jam in evening when going to airport). They have a 3 km long private ultimate clean beach and the sea is really nice easy going, warm and absolutely friendly for little children. A n extreem good beach for running and biking. I never met staff like the Nexus staff, i think al the hotel-talents of Asia are coming together at Nexus. They are super honest, very friendly and deliver an effective service by heart. Special thanks to Florina, Nelysha, Christina, Zain, Justin, Harun (Olive Restaurant) en Kiong (chef Sunset).
All the restaurants have a huge type of different food, + great breakfast, with the highest quality you can expect from the best restaurants around the world. They also have a huge variety of wines from Australia, France, Italy, Argentina and South Africa. Everyone makes time for you and also the kitchen chefs explain in detail how they prepared your food, where it is bought/catcht and what the differences are about other kitchens and/or preparing. If you have a wish for particular food!! They will manage it for you!! They have a good gym, tennis courts, golf area (we didn’t use), Great relaxed sun-beds at the beach and at the beautiful tropical pools. The rooms (Borneo Rooms) are very clean, al lot of space, kingsize beds, and a little bit outdated. They are modernising without disturbing the guests. It is huge wide area, but it feels like a small friendly warm village and a big family. If you travel to Malaysia Borneo and you want to have a couple of days relaxing after visiting areas like Saba Turtle Islands, Kinabatangan jungle and Bako (near Kuching) it is almost mandatory to visit this Nexus resort! You will not regret! We didn’t use the spa, but it looked beautiful. Tip: the local resort shop sells beer, if you like Bacardi of Gin, take a bottle with you, they have plenty of tonic and cola in the shop 😉., Ice cubes via room service. I wish you a happy stay at Nexus! We will come again if we touch Malaysia! Robert&Tallina

Let's start with the (+)ve first.
1. All the staff were lovely, friendly and always willing to help.
2. Lovely beach, not crowded and very clean
3. Great getaway if you want to be away form the hustle & bustle of the city
4. There are a few large resident monitor lizards that gives the place a certin charm - they are more than willing to pose for you!
Now let's move on to the (-)ve.
1. No WiFi in the rooms. Attempted for ages to log onto the wifi but finally gave up and called reception and was informed there was no WiFi in the rooms! When we were leaving, I brought this to the attention of one of the staff and was informed guess can request for a portable WiFi dongle but it's at a cost of RM 100 (not sure for what duration at this cost). In this day & age - seriously?!
2. Rooms require a proper spring clean. Nice high ceilings with exposed wooden rafters but spoilt by very visible cobwebs
3. Food in the various restaurants was at most average. We tried several outlets - Kingfisher, Noble House, Sunset Bar, Penyu, Darlin Darlin. Noble House came up tops but expensive.
4. Be prepared to pay an average of RM 50 for one way into the city in a Grab (local popular peer-to-peer ride sharing). Hotel offers RM30 for a bus ride into the city but that wasn't cost effective for a family of 4 for me. However, to be fair, if one wanted a decent resort getaway with a nice beach it has to be a distance away form the city.
5. Exorbitantly priced in house convenience store. You are already in a secluded location and no one is going to stroll out to any shop close by since they don't exist - keep prices reasonable or with a slight premium, no matter how many packs of crisps we buy we still need to have dinner / lunch at your restaurants. Not impressed with being charged an arm & a leg for basic stuff.
All in all it was an enjoyable but I might try another one next round.
