“Luigi Malones”
Reviewed 7 August 2012

Having sampled both Luigi Malones and Little Italy then I would recommend Malones. It is obviously quite new but the staff are trying hard and the food was acceptable. Great for lunchtime drink which sometimes difficult in K K.

“No where near Italy....”
Reviewed 3 August 2012

In Kota Kinabalu there are many fine and various food places to tantalize your taste buds, unfortunately Luigi Malones isn’t one of them, although they have only been open for about 4 months. I was told Chinese noodles and other Malay dishes will be put on the menu for lunch to try to attract locals. Located near the Hyatt Regency in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia, on the waterfront, the prices are more suited for restaurants inside the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Service is not good as the wait staff at Luigi Malones do not fully understand your requests when ordering, so be careful, if they are going to serve western clientele, you need to grasp peoples orders. Management is trying, but this will definitely take some time.
Comparing Luigi Malones with Little Italy (just two blocks away) I would definitely recommend the latter. The ambiance at Luigi Malones is definitely sterile and doesn’t really give you that warm Italian feeling you get at Little Italy’s. Both establishments claim to make all their own sauces and pastas.
If you have the odd Ringgit in your pocket and want to be disappointed, then by all means visit Luigi Malones. I would give this restaurant 2 stars.
