“Great food, nice decor”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

Visited Spice Island last month and had a very enjoyable night. It was one of the very few times that I have been the only customer in a restaurant!! Not really sure as to why that was, perhaps I just caught a quiet night. The décor is very nice and creates a nice ambiance. The service was very attentive as you would expect being the only people there! Food was well cooked and well presented. Wine was very good also, although a little bit pricey.

“Mouth watering fish”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

I was staying at the Sutera Harbour with friends. We ate here a few times mainly as the location was perfect for us. The decor was splendid created wonderful ambiance. We were all on a natural high after returning from a lovely few days in Sepilok. We found the service was fabulous. Staff were professional and keen to assist in any way they could. The main had a great variety of dishes to chose from including if you are vegetarian. A mixture of traditional blended with Indian. I note one review indicated it was not spicy enough. I grew up in Asia and found it perfect full of flavour. Traditional Malaya food is similar yet different in flavour to Indian however it is just as equal I believe.
All meals used fresh ingredients. The fish curry was moist and simply lovely. Wine list was reasonable as well which was a bonus as not many Malaysians drink wine. We left feeling like we had hit the jackpot. Simply lovely! Excellent in all ways.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed 27 February 2014 via mobile

Billed by Sutera Harbour as "the choice venue for visiting royalty and dignitaries", the wife and I were disappointed with the overall impression we gained of this restaurant.
Sure the ambience is both elegant and inviting but that is about where it ends.
The menu consists of Malay and "Indian" dishes but we found them to be under spiced despite the restaurant's name.
The wife's entree consisted of TWO prawns in a light batter with garnish and mine was four fish balls in batter with garnish. The fish was dry!
Main courses ( which we shared ) comprised chicken rendang which wasn't bad although with insufficient sauce and the other main comprised spiced lamb cutlets which were on the tough side.
Service, although wait persons were pleasant and polite, was overdone and we were left with the feeling that they couldn't get us out of the restaurant fast enough.
This may explain why we were the ONLY CUSTOMERS all evening!
The cost of the dinner, by the way, including a bottle of wine and what was supposed to be a martini was RM 479 > AUD 160.

“SPICEndeavour”
Reviewed 25 February 2014

If you are looking for a restaurant that serves good Indian plus Malay cuisines with high end ambience then Spice is the right place to be. This is a MUST TRY for those staying @ Sutera Harbour. Service is excellent and they will explain about the cuisine if you request them to. Location is good and the view especially at night is wonderful. Variety of selections to choose from. The perfect high end restaurant for you.

Tips : You need to make reservation. No walk in
Dress appropriately - no shorts, sleeveless shirts / tee slippers allowed
