“One of the landmarks of Kota Kinabalu”

Reviewed 28 August 2013

This clock tower is somewhat hidden on the hill. When we were there, the tower is currently in the process of painting so we only briefly there. The tower is one of the landmarks that you should visit while in KK ..

Built in 1905, this is the oldest standing structure in Kota Kinabalu, most everything else was destroyed in WW II. It used to be a lighthouse and a clock tower. It's surrounded by lots of buildings and you can just look at it. Only worth the trip if you are a clock buff, history buff or have nothing else to do.

This clock tower is dedicated to Mr.Atkinson, who passed away because of the tropical desease,he is only 28 at that time. His mother from ordered to built this tower in memoriam of his son.Altough the genuine material had already replaced,it still standing. We were lucky to hear the bell rang, on exactly 12 noon.Worth to visit because of its historical value.
