“old clock”
Reviewed 26 September 2013

it's just near the jalan gaya street. so, after shopping, you can visit this place. it's just an old clock tower. however, it's surroundings need some maintenance( too many trash).

“5 minutes”
Reviewed 5 September 2013 via mobile

Wish there was more to say about this old famous landmark of KK. It was worth 5 minutes for a quick photo, but make sure you hold your taxi for this quick photo opportunity.

“Worth A Shot”
Reviewed 1 September 2013

Passing by the Merdeka Field or locally termed Padang Merdeka where short distance buses and taxis congregate nearby at Bandaran, it's worth a shot to just snap a picture off this clock tower. From where most visitors would stand waiting for their buses heading to various points along the west coast division of Sabah, just walk straight up ahead alongside the Merdeka Field until you pass the huge arch that marks the entry point of the field. Once you're through, just walk up further by about 50 meters and turn your head towards the right up the bluff where you will notice the Atkinson Clock Tower.

The fascinating point about it is that the clock tower appears to be the oldest yet structure to still stand in Kota Kinabalu, having been constructed in 1905 in loving memory of Jesselton's first district officer - Francis George Atkinson who died of malaria in 1902. You won't be able to get anywhere near it as the structure is fenced off, but you'd still be able to get a pretty decent picture from where you stand.

“One of the landmarks of Kota Kinabalu”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

This clock tower is somewhat hidden on the hill. When we were there, the tower is currently in the process of painting so we only briefly there. The tower is one of the landmarks that you should visit while in KK ..
