Lovely old place - built in 1954 as a luxury colonial hotel when the entire city centre was rebuilt after the British & Japanese pretty much destroyed it during 2nd world war fighting.
Has pictures of Lady Mountbatten being served tea there in the late 50s by a young waiter who still works there today, and the friendly housekeepers wear 1950s British maids uniforms
Very comfortable & clean rooms, not luxurious by today's standards [there's a huge Meridien across from the market on the waterfront if that's what you want] but a really nice small hotel with very helpful staff.
There's a seriously good Italian restaurant on the ground floor cooking real italian food - [wonder where their cook was trained ?] including a thin crust pizza we'd have been happy to eat in Rome. Highly recomended for dinner if you're nasi goreng'd out..
Breakfast is good - fresh squeezed orange juice & good omelettes
Not expensive & we enjoyed it & would certainly stay there again
