We stayed at the Jesselton for 4 days and were delighted with the hotel.
We booked a deluxe room through Agoda, and we were given room 303 which is at the front of the hotel with trees to look out on,although it is is a main street,we were not disturbed by exterior noises from the road outside. The room was non smoking which was our request.
The room was large with twin beds, good mattresses, spotless linen.Pictures on the wall which provided a homely touch, net curtains as well as full blackout curtains.
On the bedside tables there was a clear digital clock (I could read it without my glasses)and control panel for lighting and TV in the room.
There were also 2 easy chairs by the window with round coffee table and standard lamp, wooded slatted case stand, table and mirror(the hairdryer is in the drawer of this table),a spacious wardrobe with louvred doors, ironing board and iron, safe,a unit facing bed with drawer space and flat screen TV on top,(CNN and discovery channel among others)There was also an ice bucket, empty fridge(which is how I like it so the we can use it for snacks as well as drinks, coffee and tea making facilities + 2 comp bottles of water each day.
There is a 24 hour laudry service; e.g. 5MR for a shirt. The jeans we had laundered came back as if new.Room is carpeted, and has a full length mirrow, quiet aircon which we didn't need most of the time, bottle opener on the wall of bathroom, phone, illuminated "do not disturb" sign outside by door but set from panel at side of bed.
There was a large bathroom with good lighting, toilet, bidet, basin with lots of surrounding areas to put your toiletries, plenty of mirrors, bath with handles so that you can get out of the bath, optional rubber anti-slip bathmat if you wanted to use it.
White good quality towels and flannels were changed daily, and a chrome towel rack from which you could hand any dripping hand washing was above the bath.Soap, shampoo, shower gel, were also provided.Very very comfortable.
When we arrived we asked for more hangers, for someone to show us how to set the safe as there were no instructions, and for the squeaky bathroom door to be fixed;all this was attended to immediately.
There is a lift in the hotel despite there only being 3 floors, and a free newspaper delivered to your room each day( I really like this option...great idea)
On the ground floor there were helpful people behind the reception, particularly the Front Office Manager called Nora, who handled a minor problem expertly.
The hotel email address is reservation@jesseltonhotel.com
There is also an Italian restaurant on the ground floor,a small bar, small seating area which we liked to use in the evenings to watch the world go by,and at least twice a week a great piano player/singer who performs songs from the past.Would have enjoyed her being there more frequently.
The hotel will book tours for you if you wish as well as arrange transfers back to the airport for 30MR.The hotel's driver was really polite and had self taught himself English. He helped with our luggage and was a nice last impression of the service of this hotel.

The Jesselton reflects a colonial past but lacks nothing in the comfort zone.It has loads of character and is situated in a street with a lot of cheap eating options. At the time of our staying the uniform(colonial) of the doorman was being cleaned..so it was a modern look instead...and the old London cab has been replaced by a new 'people carrier' which was fine.
If you don't want to eat breakfast in the hotel,we found the Euro bakery to the right and across the road(opp Tourist office) very good.Sparklingly clean, breads and cakes to eat in or out, and a small cafe area which has a good little menu and serves food till 3pm .The bakery shop itself stays open much later. It also serves delicious Malaysian coffee(in a half pint beer mug!!)
Good prices for batik in the local shops, even fixed price shops will negotiate.Try the seafood stalls and food court at the back of the 'Philipino' market overlooking the sea.Fab sunsets and loads of local colour.Huge prawns and lobsters too.!!Operational from about 5.30p.m. just before sunset, till don't know when.

We were delighted with the Jesselton,it answered all our needs, was very central and we would go back tomorrow if we could!!!Thanks to everyone there for making it so enjoyable.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front have trees to look out on,and are not noisy.

We stayed here for 12 days in March 2012,The room was spacious, and extremly comfortable, and quiet,The staff were all so friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble.
The food was very good and reasonable,It is in the heart of K K ,close to everything,we have stayed in much more expensive places in K K. But this is definetly our favorite,We look forward to staying here again next year,

Room Tip: 3rd floor front view is good, also the bigger double room.

The hotel is very nicely decorted and harks back to the colonial era. Located in the heart of Kota Kinabalu (a city that serves mostly as a arrival/departure point for places of far greater interest on the island), the hotel has kept an air of old-world sophistication. These is also a decent italian restaurant on the ground floor. The only gripe was that the wifi was somewhat patchy, although always worked inb the lobby.

The best advantage of this hotel is its location: restaurants doors away, Suriah Sabah Mall 5minutes, Jesselton Terminal - 10minutes, Waterfront and Central Market - 10minutes. Gaya Sunday Market is at its doorstep. The bed was really comfortable and the room was ok given the building's age. The bathroom was a little small but served its purpose. Would recommend this hotel for those who are looking for a base to explore downtown KK.

Spend 3 nights in the Jesselton hotel and were happy with the choice.

Very good location in the center of KK, very attentive and friendly staff.
We booked a tour to Poring hot springs with the hotel and the organization was done well. Without having asked for, the hotel staff called us the night before the tour took place to reconfirmed the pick up time etc. We felt very much taken card of.

We recently stayed at The Jesselton Hotel with our family of 5. We required 2 rooms for our family (no interconnect) and didn't require a breakfast as we were leaving at 5.30 for a flight to Sandakan. The Hotel had loads of character, was well priced, the rooms were very comfortable - good bed and shower and we had dinner in the hotel restaurant "Bella" which the kids still talk about (great spaghetti bolognaise!!) Centrally located with a 5-10 minute walk to the promenade, we were more than happy to recommend this hotel!!

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor were very comfortable
