Great location, short walk from 7-11 and town, slightly dodgy neighbors thou.
Room was big enough, a/c slightly questionable but could live with it. Stayed for 2 nights and the breakfast buffet was good. And oh, had one meal in their restaurant due to not leaving the restaurant as a result of a migraine...yeah, if you can...don't eat there...says they serve a Malaysian-Indonesian fusion cuisine but its not really...just over priced pseudo-Asian food...other than that, place was good..nice people too.

Horrible experience at this hotel, the reception staff didn't help us in a timely manner. Once in the room, the bathroom had dried urine on the floor, the bed sheets weren't clean and after we asked to get the bed sheets changed we still ended with a rash and bed bug bites. We asked to change rooms. The staff never apologized at any of the encounters we had. And they didn't even attempt to make things right at any point. Definitely look for a different hotel, KK has many well priced and much better hotels than this.

(private message to Roger dated 28 May 2014)

Dear Roger,

Kopivosian from Dreamtel Kota Kinabalu!

Thank you for your feedback and it saddens us to hear that your stay with us was not as pleasant as we all had hoped for.

With reference to your feedback and our Housekeeping Log, the room was released in clean and good condition on the day you checked-in. We attended to your request to change the bed sheet the next day and it was reported by the Housekeeping Attendant that the stain was caused by spilled coffee. At the same time we had also cleaned the mark on the wall of the bathroom as per your request. No urine stain in the bathroom was noticed other than the fact that the bathroom was wet after your had taken your shower.

Our Housekeeping team also checked the bed upon your complaint about bed bugs and after we had moved you to another room and found nothing. As you know bed bugs spread very fast and once infested more than one room will be affected but in our hotel we check regularly and there has not been any discovery of beg bugs infestation. We had many conversations with some of our guests about insect bites in the past and in the end we realised that they were badly bitten by sand flies when they went to the islands. Do you think in your case it might have been the tiny but lethal sand flies when you went to the island or jungle trekking?

Roger, my team and I sincerely apologise for your unpleasant experience during your stay with us and we hope there will be a chance for you to come and stay with us again in the not too distant future for us to make amends.

In the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us if we could be of further assistance.

Kotohuadan.

Warm regards,
EVON FOO

The hotel was relatively new when I stayed here so everything was clean and well-maintained. The location of the hotel is great, near to Gaya Street and the night markets. Furthermore, you can take an airport bus from the airport to the hotel as the bus stops just in front of the hotel. Wifi is also provided for free and the signal is relatively good.

We stayed here for 2 nights and didn't regret staying here. The hotel is located 5 minutes walk from Gaya Street, and further 10-15 minutes walk to the promenade and Jesselton boat terminal. Shops are conveniently located close to the hotel too. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. We had to leave at 6.30am to catch a flight to Sandakan and when informed the reception the night before, they offered to have our breakfast packed the next morning. Taxis are easily available too outside the hotel to drive to the airport. It's certainly value for money for a 3-star hotel in the city centre.

We stayed here for 5 nights instead of 2 because we kept extending our booking. The rooms were immaculate, the service was great and the breakfasts were hearty with a good mix of Asian/Western cuisine on offer. We did a few day trips from this hotel and the receptionist was very helpful in letting us use the phones to organise our days. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough - it's an absolute bargain !
