Thank you so much for sharing how you felt when staying with us. I love the way you pretty much summarize what we are all about in a paragraph, by highlighting the location, the breakfast, the views and of course the service provided by our team.

It was our second time staying at the Le Meridien Kota Kinablu. We love the friendly staff here, the comfortable and large rooms and even when we only paid for a standard room, we could still see the water from the windows which was a bonus (I understand not ALL standard rooms had this feature so lucky us)
The breakfast buffet is great, one of the best we've had anywhere. We also had high tea as well as the christmas dinner at the restaurant too, and have never been disappointed with the quality of the food.
Location is great. It's right on the water opposite the wet markets as well as adjacent to shopping centres and night markets.
The swimming pool is a little small, but it's a city hotel, not a resort, so with this point alone it didn't really affect us that much (considering you are a ferry ride away from great snorkelling at the islands).
We paid $130 per night, and considering its quality this is wonderful value.
We'll stay here again when we are in Kota Kinabalu next!

Hello sleepy aussie cat. Thank you for reassuring that you felt your experience was great value for money. I read you were here during Christmas time and enjoyed the food. In the meantime we have added a steak restaurant named Flames which is doing very well and offers an additional dining option to our guests.
Indeed it is true that some of the superior rooms also offers seaview we are keeping that as a secret but no more for our friends the tripadvisors...
Hope to have you back.

We stayed at this warm and friendly hotel for 5 days as we like to be close to the Centre to experience the local culture and daily life.
It is ideally located within 5mins of waterfront restaurants and local markets etc. Also the tour desk can arrange visits to the local attractions such as the Orangutangs at the Rasa Ria Resort Nature Reserve.
We upgraded to a Club Room giving us access to the Club Lounge which we used a couple of times for breakfast as a great alternative to the very extensive Restaurant Buffet. It was also a great place to have an evening drink and snacks(all included in the tariff) and watch the magnificent sunsets over the South China Sea.
Our room was very comfortable and only one floor below the Club Lounge with access via a curved stairway. It too had beautiful views over the South China Sea, nearby Islands, local food markets and fishing fleet.
Service from the very friendly staff was outstanding and we would definitely stay here again should we return to Kota Kinabalu.

Room Tip: Club Room is a very worthwhile upgrade

We stayed at Le Meridien for two nights on a combined Business and Leisure trip. The hotel is situated in the town area and it has an excellent location overlooking the sea. Local vegetable/fish markets are directly opposite the hotel and there are many seafood restaurants just across the road by the sea side.

The staff were welcoming, courteous and provided excellent service during our stay. The checkin was pretty efficient. We were indeed impressed to see some cards on the Reception which read "Passion for Perfection", however many staff were not aware of the this positive incentive. The room allocated to us had some leakage in the bathroom and on reporting we were transferred to another room, which was much better and had a sea view front. We had specifically asked for a non-smoking room and were given a non smoking room but there was this smoky stench lingering through the corridors and the rooms. The rooms were clean with fresh towels. It was good to note that the hotel had an Environment policy but sadly the signs and notification were not noticeably displayed in the bathroom. The room windows were not clean and could do with cleaning from time to time. It was disappointing that the room had excellent view of the sea, market and beautiful sunset but the windows were filthy and could not be opened either.

The service in the Restaurant was good and had provided a wide choice for breakfast. As we are Strict Vegetarians, we had requested for our special dietary needs and were extremely pleased with the care and service we received in this aspect. The Chef was very accommodating and ensured our needs were met .

We did not use the Gym or the swimming pool but they do have the Spa facilities. The swimming pool is located, I believe on the 1st Level and overlooks the sea/market area. The swimming pool area did however have a fishy smell, maybe coming across from the fish market area.

Around the hotel area, the drainage and sanitation/guttering does smell due to the very humid and hot weather conditions.

Those who enjoy seafood would certainly have a good time by the sea front seafood restaurants.

We would like to congratulate the Manager, Mr Alex Riva and the Executive Assistant Manager, Mr Suresh Ramasamy for their pride in the hotel and for their "Passion for Perfection". Although we believe it is still a way to "Perfection", we were very happy to note the Management's commitment for Service Excellence. Thank you Mr Riva. By the way, the iced tea was very refreshing and will be memorable.

We stayed at the Le Meridien for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The rooms were a bit older, but very nice, clean and big! The staff were lovely, the managers held a meet and greet by the pool which was a great way to meet and mingle with other guests. Each of the managers made sure they spoke to us, and then everytime we saw them for the rest of our stay they made sure to approach us and have a chat.

The tour desk in the lobby was very helpful, it was a little more expensive than going to the street obviously, but well worth the extra price for the service they gave us! We suggest doing the rasa ria orang utang sanctuary (this is a MUST, and we suggest staying right until the end, once the crowds clear), and the kota kinabalu national park day trip which is particularly good for those who don't have time to head up the mountain.

The buffet had a massive spread, including freshly cooked to order, and refrigerated goodies.

The hotel sits under the flight path, and while you can hear the planes at the pool, you can't hear a thing in your room.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Le Meridien and would definitely stay their again if or when we return to beautiful borneo!

Thank you for your excellent review and for joining us by the pool for our weekly get together. Indeed KK being a small city and the airport being only some 10 km away most of the hotels are within the taking off path however I am happy you agree that is not an issue in the guest rooms. Will ensure the team at the tour desk know their efforts are appreciated.

We have travelled a lot and rate the service and staff at this hotel to be amongst the very best.
Never at any point were we met with anything but courtesy, efficiency and the most incredible smiles we have ever seen!
Our congratulations to the management on staff training.
Each morning as we enjoyed an incredible breakfast every staff member from the beautiful girls serving our coffee and tea to the chefs who made fabulous omelettes our day was guaranteed to be a success.
To Alex the manager who always seemed to be around yet had time to speak to the guests it all helped to make us feel very comfortable.
Housekeeping also deserve a mention, our room was always immaculate and nothing at all was too much trouble for them.
We loved meeting other staff members at the Wednesday/Thursday drinks at the pool, it is a great idea to bring guests and staff together . We were well informed on places to go and things to do from these sessions.
We booked tours and again, cannot fault the Tour Desk operator who was very professional and helpful, due to John’s health we had to modify a couple of the tours and nothing was too hard for her.
Cannot wait to return for another relaxing break.

Stayed 5 nights as part of an itinery arranged by our travel consultant. When we arrived we were offered an upgrade to a 'Club' room on the top floor, including breakfast buffet in the Club dining room on the top floor, free Internet and happy hour cocktails from 5 to 7 on the house. Our room was a little noisy and when we asked to move rooms we were given a suite room at no extra cost. Service levels were first class. Breakfast buffet was very good but a little limited in range. We didn't eat lunch or dinner so I can't rate. Would stay again without hesitation.
