Firstly the hotel is in the right place - on the watrerfront in the middle of the action - huge markets and eating stalls across the road.
On check in I was offerred upgrade to "Club Membership" for arounf $35 a night. As this included free WIFI, breakfast and evening cocktails and canapes (none of which were included in my deal), I accepted. What a great deal that ended up being for the four nights I was there! Cocktails on the top floor private lounge watching the sun set over the islands was really special and the maitre'd didn't seem to worry about the 7.00pm closing time - on more than one occasion I was there well past 9.00pm!! After giving your room number and settling in, we were offerred canapes and addressed by our names without giving them - a real "feel good" effect.
Rooms themselves were immaculate with excellent facilities and bathrooms. In room WIFI was a plus (but non Club memebers would need to pay for that). Breakfast in the Club was excellent although I tried the buffet in the main dining area on one occasion and that was also excellent with more variety but less privacy.
Some other resorts and hotels are a bit out of town which is great for relaxing by the pool but if you want to see the sights of KK and surrounding islands, this is the hotel for you.

Room Tip: Try for a room overlooking the waterfront for great sunsets and a hive of activity later.

We stayed 7 nights here 7-14 July 2012. I have 5 kids (6-15 years) and we needed 2 rooms, which always increases our holiday expenses considerably. Having joined the Starwood priviledge in advance (about RM500) we could use vouchers and discounts to get a suite upgrade and another room, and extra beds (RM130) all for under RM700 a night (exc breakfasts)! When we got there staff were most helpful when the booking was slightly wrong. The suite was great because we could have enough room to chill out when it was raining and get around the big table for family games such as uno and take-two.

The location is great, in the centre of the city and free parking. The pool is a little small, but the buckets of beer are reasonably priced, and the gym has a good amount of equipment. Because of the location there are numerous restaurants around and you are not forced to use the hotel facilities. We got our snacks and drinks from a local supermarket in the basement of the centre point mall, which kept the costs down.

If we returned to KK we'd stay again.

Room Tip: Try and upgrade to a suite if you have a family.

Thank you Jason and indeed we all know the challenges of a large family travelling. Well done I believe with 5 children you are meeting Bruneian standards, I lived and worked in Brunei as well and stopped at 3....
Let me know when you next visit and I will ensure we set you up nicely again.
Appreciate your positive feed-back.

Love the hotel as a whole. Have been staying there every time I make a trip to KK. Its pricey though..however, love the swimming pool, the food and the location. do not need to go far to shop as the Centerpoint Mall is close and there is the Warisan Square Mall also next to the hotel. Plus the night market is right in front of the hotel. If you're staying the weekend, there is a night market situated at the back of the hotel with many good bargains. Do haggle ;-)

Plus if you join the membership of the hotel chain which is Starwood Privilege Program, you get many exciting and cool offers/vouchers for stays there.

Room Tip: Love the suites, we pay a for a superior room and get upgraded to a suite using our vouchers as we...

Hello Bruneian friend thank you for your continuous support. Having worked at the ex Sheraton Utama for three years, Brunei has been home for me and my family and I am always happy to meet guests from Brunei staying with us.
We are just a car drive away, do let me know when you next visit so that we can meet for an "ambuyat" :)

Last week, my best friend and I travelled to Sabah, for a holiday 'to get away from it all'. We have both just turned 50 and wanted a little walk on the wild side but with a comfortable and central base from which to explore both MT Kinabalu and an o/n trip to the east coast to experience the wildlife on the Kambatang River . Le Meridien was, as far as I could see and from my experience the best place in KK to stay. The hotel is close to the markets and all the shopping. It was central, comfortable and above all, the staff were outstanding! It is a cliche, I admit, but the staff make the hotel. They were attentive, helpful, and really did go out of their way to make every detail as it should be. Mark behind the front desk was amazing! Shera leeza in the Circle restaurant was a competent and pleasant waitress. The breakfasts are AMAZING!
