We stayed for two nights in a room overlooking the busy market and sea. Check in was welcoming and we were allocated a good corner room. The room was clean and comfortable and most satisfactory. The large comprehensive breakfast off the foyer on the ground floor was good and the service efficient. This is the third time that we have stayed at this hotel and would almost certainly stay there again if the opportunity arises.

Room Tip: Try to avoid a room directly below the club lounge if possible. We noticed some furniture moving noise filtering through in the late evening.

Our room doesn't have hair dryer, towels was very few, our toilet was broken, bathroom was dirty, tub was very nasty dirty! water was cost $12.00 or more. my husband order break fest and my husband was not feeling well so we ordered breakfest to delievery to our room and never came!!! I cancel our room in sixty3 hotel and chose this hotel in stead and that was a wrong moved because our friends who stayed in sixty3 hotel had a better room, free water, hair dryer and cleaned room.

Room Tip: maybe ocean view. our was the down town. nothing really to see besie bunch of old bulding

Hello Nadia,

I am very surprised and disappointed to read your review from your recent stay with us. Firstly let me extend to you our very sincere apologies for clearly not extending a stay or experience that you should of had, I am very very sorry.

It is a standard in each of our guest rooms to have a hair dryer, I can only imagine that you did not find its location during your stay. We do have Evian water for sale at a charge, though in every room we have at least 2 bottles of complimentary drinking water available and if a request is made with our service center they will send more to the guest room.

This does not excuse the fact that you ordered room service and no delivery or the standard of your bathroom. I would recommend that if you are not satisfied in future or have a similar experience to let us or any hotel team know whilst you are in the hotel so we can take steps to address the issues for you and for future guests.

Warmest regards,

Fiona

This is a great hotel with magnificent views over port and ocean. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
Rooms are a little dated, the bathroom a little worn around the edges, but clean and spacious.
Location is perfect as everything is within walking distance. Breakfast is delicious.
On the downside: a/ slow Internet that should be free at the speed they can offer; b/ staff at breakfast took away our plates too quickly; c/ the tv doesnot offer many channels nor good image.
Let's say we can live with that ...

Room Tip: Choose a room with seaview

Early in March, my husband and I spent 6 nights in Kota Kinabalu and stayed at the Le Meridien in town. The whole experience was great, from the early check in at 6.30am to the late check-out at 3.30pm to go to the airport a week later.

On arriving after next to no sleep on the overnight direct flight from Perth, we were efficiently checked in, our luggage stored and advised that there was a twin room available immediately, however our requested king room would not be ready until 10.00am. We chose to wait and were ushered into the Circle Restaurant to have a leisurely breakfast while waiting. The selection of foods was wide and varied and catered for many different cultural experiences as well as having a great fresh egg station. Rodney, the maitre'd that morning was most welcoming and explained the various special evening meal experiences that were on offer that week. As we were leaving the restaurant, the staff chased us up and let us know our room was now ready. This was just after 8am. Great service!

We settled in to our lovely sea-view room on the 9th floor and then proceeded to hit the streets for a look around our home for the next week. As it was still before 9am, there wasn't much open, however the fish and fruit & veg markets over the road were setting up for their day's trading.

On returning to the hotel, we were warmly greeted by all the staff that we encountered and at each breakfast, we were greeted by name and with our preferred pot of coffee or latte. Kenneth, at the pool bar was a fount of information on what to do around the city and suggested some great places to eat and visit when we were out and about. He also makes a very good cocktail! The hotel also invited us to a Tuesday night sundowner to meet the staff and this was a very pleasant interlude with delicious canapes and a drink or two. We had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with the General Manager, Fiona and her insights into life in KK were most interesting.

Our room was large and had an imposing view of the South China Sea and the islands just off shore. There was also always something happening down on the seaside with the fish markets and fruit & vegie markets spread out below us. The room was spotlessly clean, kept in tip top condition by our room staff which we never seemed to catch sight of. There was copious amounts of room amenities as well. Our only complaint is a personal preference, however the feather pillows are not pleasant to sleep on as during the night, they lose their stuffing and you might as well be sleeping without a pillow at all. The one foam pillow supplied in the room was like a thick brick - great for propping yourself up on to watch TV but impossible to sleep on.

We were really made to feel like honoured houseguests rather than paying customers and the welcome from all the staff (like Jumanti in Circle each morning) was terrific. Nothing was too much trouble and when I developed a bit of a cough and a stuffy nose, the morning maitre'd (I didn't catch her name) personally delivered a pot of hot water, honey & fresh lemon wedges to drink with my Jasmine Tea.

The position of the hotel is right in the middle of everything in KK too! Walking distance from all the best night markets, Phillipino handicraft markets, Sunday markets and the Gaya St restaurants as well as the shopping centres and waterfront.

We can't wait to visit again.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view room and up higher has great views of the South China Sea.

We found it boring in Shangrila and checked out. I decided to try Le Meridien which was much cheaper for a deluxe sea view room. Great location, very central, close to airport 20mins. There is a big fish market and you can see lots of fresh produce there. Hotel's room was slightly dated but still acceptable.Great view from the room ,we could see planes taking off , fisherman with their boats and some small boats were selling fishes. It was nice, It was different from my stay in Shangrila. In the evening ,there is a nice music in the lobby cafe. What i didn't like was the spa. There were just 2 rooms, but if you are just looking for a simple massage and not bothered about the look of the spa, go ahead and try. This hotel seemed to have more activities than Shangrila.

I had booked a Twin Deluxe Sea View but was given a room with 2 queen beds, the pillows were too soft and beds were not of good quality, rather springy..

At the waterfront, you will find Italian, australian, thai, Indian and many other cuisines. You don't have to eat in the hotel. We tried Kohinoor, its a a simple layout eatery with sarees hung around as decorations but the food is good, though i didn't like their Basmati rice. I found the food reasonably priced and yummy as well.

Airport is a very simple one with KFC and a small Asian cafe.,Gloria Jeans Coffee, if you have kids with you,it will be best if they eat before departing the hotel.
