Good value for money property at the city center. All your major attractions in the city are at walking distance. There are a lot of local and Chinese restaurants around and the little Italy round the corner of the road is highly recommended. The hotel is a bit old property but the rooms are spacious enough with an excellent bed which are becoming a rare commodity nowadays in budget hotels. Clean bathrooms with separate shower cubical and with running hot water. Excellent housekeeping services and the staff are always keen to help with a bright smile. The standard rooms doesn't have a safe deposit lockers, but they do have one at the reception. A decent spread of breakfast, but you are treated with the same stuff every day without much of a change.

All in all a good bargain and well worth your money spend.

This place is our home for 6 days. Three of us stayed in a non smoking room. The room was okay, considering the price. The bathroom is spacious, though the tiles in the shower is not so clean. Toiletries were replenished everyday. Bottled water also given everyday. The location is great! Near and walking distance to almost all malls in the city. We walked on our first day and reached the waterfront. Jesselton point is also walking distance to it. Buffet food though didnt serve a lot of choices. We got a chance to experience beef once with rice but that was only for a single day. For the price, its not bad at all. We get to sleep comfortably. There was a time when the hair dryer and the outlet in the bathroom broke, it took them 2 days to fix the problem. We charged our gadgets at the reception instead. Another negative thing about it is the aircon. Its too hot. But, All in all, the stay was good and worth it. I would definitely stay here again.

In the hotel industry its all about perception and Best Western in KK gave me a very bad first one. We booked the room through booking.com but they didnt receive the order. Even double check this with booking.com they still need us to print out the reservation for administration reasons. Printing out wasnt possible since the internet connection is stuck in the rock age. Showing the reservation on Ipad wasnt enough. In one hour we are able to get our room. The rooms are okay. Location is excellent in the city centre nearby shops and banks. At the end the Hotel Charge us 10% more than confirmed on the reservation.

Strategic location.
Near the fery terminal, Suria Sabah, Gaya Streets, restaurants and others.
Amy is very helpful staff.
A simple buffet option, according to a relatively cheap price.
With the relatively cheap price, the room is quite comfortable, suitable for travelers or in a short time visitors who want a little privacy and comfort.

TIPS :
Walking distance to the Historic Atkinson Clock Tower
or exercise a little bit to see the stunning sunset views from the lookout platform on the Bukit Bendera. (Bendera Hill)

I stayed here for 4 weeks with a friend and absolutely loved it! We found a very cheap deal on the laterooms website and started off in a standard twin room without a window and after only 3 days, we were upgraded to a superior twin room with a window, totally free of charge for the remaining 3 and a half weeks of our stay!

The rooms were a decent size, only one wardrobe and not much space for luggage but we managed fine with 2 large backpacks. There is a mini fridge which is empty so you can buy food and drinks from outside the hotel and store them here, free of charge. The hotel provides complimentary bottled water every morning which was great. The beds were a little bit too comfortable! There were lots of english channels on the TV. The only complaint about the room is that when you turn the lights off, the air con also turns off, so we had to leave the light on some nights in order to be able to use the aircon. The aircon was fantastic though and cooled the room very quickly. Also the bathroom lights turn off with the main lightswitch, so you have to switch on the bedroom lights in order to be able to switch on the bathroom lights, which can be annoying in the middle of the night as you wake everyone up. Also the windows are not great, there is a cage like barrier between the window and the outside so we kept our curtains closed most of the time. Not a particularly great view either but this wasnt a concern of ours.

Bathroom was great, we had a power shower with plenty of hot water, and the bathroom was cleaned impeccably everyday. Soap, shampoo and bath gel are provided, as well as a hairdryer.

The main selling point of the hotel is its fantastic location! It is right in the centre of KK, opposite the wisma merdeka shopping mall, and a 3 minute walk to the suria sabah shopping mall (much larger and nicer, also has lots of restaurants there). There is an abundance of restaurants and food places nearby and the waterfront is a mere 3 minute walk from the hotel! Also plenty of atms opposite the hotel.

The hotel has free wifi which is often tempermental but more than adequate.

The breakfast is ok, it included bread, toast, jam, cereal, savoury porridge, eggs, pancakes, waffles, noodles or fried rice, local meat curry, occasionally hash browns if we were lucky, chicken sausages. hot drinks, extremely diluted orange juice. This was more than enough for us and kept us going until lunch, but don't expect a 5 star breakfast!

All in all, this is a great hotel to stay in if you dont plan on spending much time in the hotel, the beds are extremely comfy, the location is superb, the prices are fantastic and the service is great. I would definitely stay here again if i ever return to KK.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade if you are travelling at a low peak time, as the staff are usually more than happ...

The Best Western is not a swank hotel. We booked for a reason - we had teenage kids so we didn't splurge. We took a "suite" for privacy. It wasn't the worst, but not the best. We had four people and they gave us four towels. Not sure about you, but girls I know need towel for hair and one for body so I asked for a few more. They were going to charge us 10Rm per extra towel per day....that is kinda cheap.

The breakfast buffet was okay for a freebie. You could grab toast, cereal and the man was making eggs and waffles. We had to laugh at the people stocking up for the day, as if they had never ate.

The staff at the front desk are kind of cranky and do not go out of their way to help or smile. They will give you free wifi codes but you have to ask every single day for each device you have. A bit of a bother

We booked a couple of tours at the front (not the desk, but besides). We lost our camera in the van on the long trip we took. I thought my camera were gone forever, but they showed up - that was a huge plus.

It is were me and my hubby, we would never stay here but because we had all the costs incurred from two extra bodies, we cheaped out. The one thing we did notice - take a look around the area....some of the hotels are horrible, making this one seem fabulous.

You will get used to the sewer gas smell - just run the aircon. It helps take away the smell. Good luck

Room Tip: I am not sure how you get a good room. OUrs was an upgrade - one that had been refurbished recently...

I wasnt too impressed with the stale smoke smell when I first got into the room which was quite small. The smell went away after I turned the ac. In the end it's hard to beat the value of this place when breakfast is included too.
