I landed at KK and found that the hotel that I booked was full. After making some calls to other hotels which were also full, I was thankful that there was a room at Hotel Capital nearby and convenient for my stay. It was a pleasant stay at KK. Nearby were eating shops, supermarket. shopping mall and banks. You will never run out of money nor food.

When we arrived in kota we found that most of the hotels where booked out and prices 30% dearer that the rest of Borneo, after a search about on foot and a few that i knocked back , as the foya was great but rooms dirty, i come upon The Capital the beds where comfortable the room a good size and clean ,freshly painted , staff helpfull, its close to the water front , restaurants eg Little Italy and Chilli Vinilla both excellent
Price was fair so all in all not bad and they offered to show you the room before asking!!

Room Tip: room 202 could go wrong and they offered to show you the room before asking

The hotel islocated right in the middle of the town.

Suria Sabah / Gaya Weekend Market / Filipino Market are all within walking distance.

The hotel don't serve any food. Don't worry, there are plenty of restaurants / cafe around!!

Our room is at No 603 and the view from our room is the jetty. Basically, the room is clean and standard and have good wi-fi connection.

Overall pleasure staty, the price is reasonable and if I ever visit KK again, I will definitely stay here!

Room Tip: Ask the room with the sea view

We stayed here for one night wich was more than enough.Very abrupt & unwelcome'ing staff, shabby dated rooms, no food served or bar.The pillows were hard pieces of foam. The hotel is in a great central location, little Italy restaurant right next door, good WiFi connection,&the price is very reasonable.

Room Tip: Try ask for an upgrade.

During a recent weeklong visit, my family of four stayed in room 602, which has a nice water view. Although the hotel is in a convenient, central location, and thus subject to traffic noise, we found that very little noise seeped into our hotel room. The hotel has few facilities -- no restaurant, certainly no pool or gym -- but it's inexpensive, clean and good value. The pillows were uncomfortable, ditto a rollaway, and the staff changed them immediately and courteously. There's a cheap, great laundry shop two blocks away and we enjoyed our breakfast at Fong Ip cafe, not far away. Overall, the Capital is a good, budget option.

Room Tip: Seek a room with a view of the water.

I frequently stay here whenever I can- room rates are reasonably cheap and the rooms are spacious and clean even if a bit dated, not to mention Little Italy is right beside it! Nice location too, the famed Gaya Street weekend market is just nearby and Wisma Merdeka is right in front. Staff are OK- not too friendly but not too snobbish either. And also, the recently-opened Suria Sabah is just a short walk away too. Not that hard to get public transport (Taxis) as well.

I have stayed at 4 hotels in Kota Kinabalu and this was my favourite. The room has got everything you need: good bed, bath tub, desk, t.v., fridge, closets, etc. The hotel is clean and the staff is very friendly.

The only thing that was missing was a safety box.
