I will attempt to give the hotel a balanced review taking into account that the Tune Hotel chains are marketed as Budget Hotels and thus shall be judged within this sector of the hotel industry.
1. Location - Prime location, alongside the waterfront and a few minutes walk from shops/food. This hotel is at most a 15 minute taxi-ride away from the airport.
As a base for visitors to Kuching to stay, one cannot do better.
2. Service - Check-in was efficient and friendly. I requested a very early morning taxi pick-up on Sunday and this was handled well.
3. Comfort - As with all branches of Tune Hotels, the bed, mattress aircon and shower facilities are of a good standard. The room is small but packs in all the basic requirements needed for a comfortable stay. However, as I will highlight in my next point - these things need good and regular upkeep!
4. Housekeeping - This was a real letdown on what could be a great budget hotel!
Safe was broken, batteries were exposed on the inside panel.
Bathmat and towel were worn and stained (see attached picture). These should have been retired long ago.
Bedsheet was stained (see attached picture).
[Please note that all pictures taken were immediately on arrival before I had used the room or any facilities]
It is such a shame that such good elements of a hotel were spoiled by poor housekeeping.More
