“Wonderful hotel”

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights while on vacation. The hotel is very conveniently located, the room itself was modern and very comfortable, the amenities were great, and the service was excellent. We were also very impressed by the breakfast buffet, which featured a variety of local and western dishes that were all delicious. We are especially grateful to the hotel staff, and Julie in particular, for their generosity and assistance when I was the victim of a purse-snatching. The hotel staff treated us like family, and we sincerely appreciated that.

Going to Kuching for work was quite an experience and I admit that, not being a frequent traveller in Asia, I was more than a bit nervous. The Lime Tree was a good base for me. It was convenient for the convention (which was in a relatively expensive hotel ten minutes' walk away), plus for some reason the atmosphere of the place just felt very reassuring. Breakfast was free and just adventurous enough to be a bit exciting. It gave me a lasting taste for lime juice. Breakfast was better than dinner, but the rooftop bar/restaurant was very handy for the first jetlagged night and the staff were generally lovely.

Tip: it's probably obvious, but take a few minutes to douse yourself in mosquito repellent before heading up to the rooftop bar. There's always one waiting to strike.

The hotel locates nearby a traditional street. So, it is easy for reaching the ordinary stuffs in the trip. It may not be a new hotel but deserves to accommodate upon limited budge. The receptions are very nice.

We traveled from NYC to Tokyo to Singapore and then spent 3 weeks jumping around various destinations in Malaysia finally ending the trip in Hong Kong and when I asked my 14 year old son what his favorite hotel was he said The Lime Tree! It wasn't that it had the most amenities (no pool, bummer), nor was it the quietest (those motorbikes should be regulated for noise!), but it was one of the most comfortable hotels of our entire trip. The room was spacious (granted, we were in the suite), the beds and pillows were comfy and soft (quite unique for Malaysia), the view was fantastic, the breakfast spread was varied and delicious, and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. We also enjoyed the walk to the riverfront and everything else that Kuching had to offer.

Room Tip: The corner suite on the 4th floor is pretty ideal.

We stayed for 6 days in the hotel - located in New Chinatown which is great for food but does mean it's a solid 15mins walk to get into the heart of Kuching. This isn't the worst thing as it gives you a chance to appreciate the streets and sights and it is an easy city to navigate. The room is small and basic but comfortable with fridge/extra amenities available on request. The breakfast is great for the cost of the stay with plenty of choice. The hotel was also good enough to allow us to extend our check out time as we had a late flight. The rooftop bar deserves a visit and if you're lucky they'll open the roof up! Really a great hotel with great staff providing plenty of information and efficient service.

We've stayed in The LimeTree hotel for 4 nights, and it was a very pleasant experience.
The location of the hotel is quite central, the main bazaar and waterfront are a 15 minute walk away. The hotel staff provided us a map.
The rooms are nice and neat, and it is great to see that this hotel has a lot of amenities. And every single on of it has something to do with Limes (nice touch).
Breakfast was nice aswell, a choice between western and local food, and was well stocked.
The only two things we came across that bothered us were: Everywhere you look in the hotel, they state that it is a smoke-free hotel, and that you'll be fined a great amount of money when smoking inside, but when we got up to the rooftop bar one night, one of the drivers was smoking inside. That wasn't professional.
Also, of you want to book Bako National Park or Semenggoh Rehabilitation Centre, you better do arrange it yourself, Semmongoh for instance costs 3RM per person to get to by bus and the tickets are 10RM for foreigners, so at the end of the day, it cost us 32 RM for two persons to get there. But the hotel charges you 75RM a person, it is almost 5 times cheaper to arrange it yourself.

All in all, a great hotel with helpful staff. We definately would come back if we visit Kuching again

The hotel offers good quality for an acceptable price.
It is located west of the Kuching Waterfront, within 5 minutes walking distance.
The rooms are sober, but comfortable.
The breakfast is served in a trendy setting on the ground floor, with fresh and healthy ingredients.
The roof top bar on the 5th floor, with a partial view on the Sarawak river, offers excellent cocktails for reasonable prices.
