“A fun experience”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

This a a unique experience and an opportunity to see orangutans in their natural habitat. We were lucky to spot a mother playing with her baby. We managed to take countless pictures and watch the baby learn how to swing.
Worthwhile trip if you have three hours of the day to spare.

“worth it, but watch for the weather”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

a bit far from the city, one may use public transport no K6 to here (check at the bus terminal). fee is minimal but the experience totally worth it. however, try to go at specific time as there r time for feeding etc etc.

“Orangutan sighting”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

I arranged this visit as part of a kayaking combo with Semedang Kayak. I was quite excited about it as this is one of the few places, I understand, where one can see orangutans. As this is not fruit season, I heard the orangutans were coming out during feeding hours. The guide picks you from your hotel at 8 am, as the feeding is at 9 am for about an hour. There is a briefing session before. The orangutans were huge and beautiful and a few were also playful. Though I think there was quite a crowd that day. I had anticipated being able to get closer to the animals. And also learning more about the history of the reserve and the character of these animals. So I missed that in a sense. I believe some reserves offer 2 week volunteer programs which would be ideal for that.

Firstly - You are coming to see orangutans in their natural environment. They are not forced to sign to say they will turn up everyday to see visitors! Even the workers don't know where they are. And that's how it should be.

Secondly - when a sign says please be quiet why do people not follow that instruction. Even the 2 month old child stayed silent for a whole hour. Only seems to be a certain nationality that struggles on this one. (They won't come when their is noise. Fact.)

Finally....after turning up at 8am we waited around for the morning feeding session. Unfortunately we seen no orangutans. No problem. It wasn't meant to be. Again, you can't force feed a wild animal.

However we returned in the afternoon and stood in the rain and thunder to watch around 12 come down to eat. It was a beautiful experience. Take it in. This is nature.

A great set up and credit to the staff for their work they do (keeping them wild).

One I won't forget!

“Amazing animals”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We went to semenggoh for the morning feeding session and saw about 6 orang-utans including a mother and her baby which was brilliant. I wouldn't bother taking a tour as it is a massive waste of money as you effectively pay for an expensive shuttle service when you can get the bus which drops you at the entrance for MR 3.50 each way.
