“So glad we came here”
Reviewed 3 March 2013

Booked in here about 2 hours before we checked in after an unhappy stay at our previous hotel. It's a large modern city centre hotel catering for both business and leisure visitors. We were expected, check in was friendly and easy, we were given a better room than we'd booked and we were soon in it.
We were on 17th floor with great views of the city and river and they'd gone to great lengths to consider the needs of the guests including a choice of pillows available on request to go on the very comfortable, enormous bed, prayer mat, yoga mat and weights. The bathroom was very large with a window from ceiling to the edge of the bath and a walk-in shower. They gave you the choice of how often your linen was changed, and followed your wishes. Our room had a writing desk and sofa and a good size flat screen TV. It was kept very clean.
Breakfast was fantastic with loads of choice from a variety of cuisines - Asian styles, continental, American with all eggs being cooked on request. The quality was top class.
We had a couple of drinks in the bar which was very comfortable and pleasant although the entertainment was just a bit too loud (but the singer had a fantastic voice).
There's a really large swimming pool on 2nd floor with a good number of sun loungers and a few cabanas to sit/lie in the shade. We didn't use the spa facilities
Overall we thought the hotel was clean, modern, comfortable and friendly and would choose to stay here again

As we arrived at the hotel, my first thought was that the lobby looked quite cold n not so festive despite the upcoming xmas celebration. The decoration was nothing amusing or spectacular. Infact they can do way better for a Pullman brand, I'm sure. And then we got to our room, nice! I had always loved newer hotel :) The bed is super comfy, the pillows are extremely fluffy, the ensuite bathroom was spacious and they even put petals at the tub for that romantic effect :)
The swimming pool area was somewhat small as compared to the featured photos on the website. But nonetheless, its a cosy n relaxing area to just lounge around n have a drink or two at the poolside bar.
Overall, we were there for about 4 days, hubby's most gracious friend who's a local there took us around the first 2 days and then my Kuching girlfriend took over for the remaining 2 days. I haven't seen her for more then 2 yrs so that was indeed a good reunion.
For those who love massages like me n hubby, there's a good massage place just 5 mins walk from the hotel. Very good n very affordable. I actually googled it up n found many encouraging reviews on the spa n so we tried it n loved it too. I know that Pullman hotel itself has got a great looking spa but then the price range were rather exorbitant. If only Pullman can be competitive enough to consider slashing down the price or rather create value for money spa packages for spa lovers like us so we don't even have to go out of the hotel to enjoy our much needed massages :)

It's a perfect business hotel, clean, modern minimalist. Well trained, helpful staff, great breakfast buffet. Kuching the city itself is, well a developing city. Hotel Pullman is well before it's surrandings. There is not too many thing to do in the city if you have a whole day, thake a one day trip up to the Bako National Park. Great experience on the river to the untouched tropical rain forest. Crocodiles, snakes and monkeys - just like before civilization. After a day in the jungle it is so good to come back to the Pullman. 5* pool and gym, two coctail bar or one is more like a lounge the other is a coffee bar and a restaurant. You can spand your day easily within the walls of the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask view to the River

We stayed at Pullman about a year ago and again this trip (Feb2013). It is clean, new and the housekeeping service is superb. Their response time is great and from the 6-7 times that I called them during the 3 night stay, they delivered all items correctly and it was delivered timely. No questions asked, no excuses. It's well connected to the Hills shopping centre, and short walk to the Top spot seafood. Otherwise, the taxi is always available. I love the fact that taxi has become more easily available in Kuching.
My kids enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi this trip, and it is nice to have a small playground there too. We always go for the massages at the spa. The service at the spa may be improved slightly (by training the staff to explain the packages and services offered) and I think it will be nice for the guests to be given a small gift upon ending a spa package/hotel stay. Like Banyan Tree, and many other hotels, they present a small souvenir to all their house guests. It is a nice gesture for the guests and also to promote local Sarawak crafts.
Tip : we asked the hotel to open the room window, and as we were staying at the 15th floor, it was wonderful to have the fresh air instead of the air con all the time. (Be extra cautious when you have children in the room though).

Room Tip: Rooms facing front of hotel may be quieter as we could hear the music from the pub downstairs until...

Back to Pullman Kuching. Still not much to write about, which is for the better.
Aircon deficient - the staff pretended not to be aware and to do something about it, but of all the 3 days spent there, the maximum room temperature was 20*C, more usually 18*C - way too much difference with the external temperature.
Tried the breakfast this time - not worth: "chefs" who baked pastries with palm oil know what their food taste like... Instead walked around the hotel and sample local food anywhere for a fraction of the cost.
On the positive side, late check-out was much appreciated.

The Pullman Kuching is well located in the city centre. It is palatial in its layout of common areas such that a few ballrooms can be fitted in its lobby. It's rooms are luxuriously fitted with the most comfortable of beds, sheets are crisp and clean, ensuring guests of a good night's rest. The bathroom is huge ... with a generous-sized long bath and a shower area. Immediately outside the main shower area is a bench for ease of changing clothes, useful for elderly guests. The room has a breathtaking view of the city centre because of a ceiling to floor glass window. Breakfast is a feast - a very wide selection of food is available, from salads to desserts and popular local fare. Menu changes daily. Overall, the Pullman is excellent value for money. I would stay there again and recommend friends to stay as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the elevator if you dont want to have to walk too far to reach your room. Remem...

had a pleasant week in pullman kuching in dec '12. its central location and connected to a mall gives it good and cheaper dining options. the ipohtown kopitiam was our regular but they have other options like sushi, western, mini food court and others. theres also a launderette across the road and price is reasonable. the famous topspot seafood restaurant is just 2 mins away. the hotel is only few years old so the room and facilities are still in very good shape. modern decor, wooden floors and overall very clean, important for our daughter with all sors of allergies.. the room cleaning is done well but they dont do good job of clearing food trays along corridor. the riverside is just 5 mins down the hill and offers nice walk and scene along the river. definitely would be back if we are in kuching. we had a special online price which made it great value.
