“Best shower of any hotel we have stayed in, outside of New York!”
Reviewed 20 January 2012

A fantastic boutique hotel, they happily configured a room to accommodate our family (2 adults a 5yo and a 8yo), they made us feel welcome even though we arrived 2 hrs before normal check in. A great location also, easy walk to the riverfront and right in the middle of a stack of great local restaurants, whilst still being very quiet. Also they provide a free airport transfer. On the downside no pay tv, but free to air satelite channels, also the fridge in the room would turn off when you were not in the room.

Room Tip: Worth considering room choice we had a room out the back with a balcony(courtyard room) but meant we...

I really felt in love with Batik hotel, staff is fantastic and very hospitable, service is great, rooms are big and super comfortable.
In my opinion one of the best value, better than the too big 5 stars hotel and with more identity.
Do not hesitate to book and go, you'll be satisfied.

This hotel has a very nice rustic ambience to it. Though I stayed here for only 1 night it seems to leave a lasting impression. Have absolutely no regrets staying here. Located at the end of the Padungan Road (Kuching’s own version of china town) it is centrally located in the “banking district.” Just 5 minutes walk from Topspot, the most well known seafood dining destination in Kuching. Other well known places within walking distance from this hotel is Sarawak Plaza, Tun Jugah Building and Riverside Majestic. The Kuching Waterfront is also about 15 minutes walk away. The hotel itself something of a crossover from a lovely homestay to a full fledge 4 star hotel. It comprises only 15 rooms. So it is advisable to book early during the holiday season. Room is fitted with split unit air conditioning. And there is a rain shower facility in the bathroom. Bed is average. The TV only have foreign channels; which I find a bit disappointing. This is a fairly new hotel set up just 1 and half years ago.It is easy to get a taxi from the area. Taxies in Kuching are definitely more customer friendly than the ones you’ll ever get anywhere in Kuala Lumpur.

This has to be one of the best hotels of its class I have ever stayed in, so much so that I can't believe it hasn't won more awards...

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very professional yet friendly Alfred and Jo Lin with rice wine and chocolate fudge, given fantastic advice, and then shown to our room.

The room was spacious, beautifully decorated and equiped with both a large bath and shower. Everything was perfect, from the lighting (with the option for mood lighting) to the bath products supplied (Tanamera). For the first time ever, I can't find fault with anything. I get the impression that the hotel owner has stayed in a lot of hotels herself, worked out what guests do and don't like, and applied it to her own business.

The staff were warm and friendly, very helpful, and assisted us to do a tour to Jenkar waterfall, which we both loved.

Location was very good- literally two minutes walk to the riverfront and in a central part of town, yet quiet at night.

I'm so glad we ended up staying here. We're both looking forward to our next visit!

Room Tip: Rooms on the city facing side appeared to be more spacious.

Pros: excellent service, clean, good location, our room was large, nice and modern
Cons : noisy (sound of water or aircon in the hotel), can't close the curtains, the lift is in front the japanese restaurant (all the clients checked you before to go) - the wifi is weak!!!!
