We spent twice three nights at Marco Polo's Guest House and we loved it. Located 20 minutes by feet from downtown in a really nice neighborhood (new Chinatown), the guesthouse is really cute: a nice balcony (full of plants) with kitchen, one big common room, very clean (hot) showers and toilets, very quiet bedrooms with comfortable bed (dorm or private). WiFi, laundry, drinks, kitchen and even a computer are available.

Sam, Jane and Druv will do all what they can to make your stay comfortable and interesting. Very helpful, they can also arrange you taxi, tours, or just give you tips about things to see in or around Kuching (or invite you to go for some beers ;-)) and we had many interesting discussions with them. They make you feel being part of their family.

For everyone looking for a clean, affordable, welcoming guesthouse with great owners and many other independent world travellers to hook up with, we recommend highly this guesthouse!

Nice and clean. Prices were decent. Booked through Agoda.com. Sam, the owner, and his wife were very pleasant. A bit of a walk, I think, from all the main attraction in town, but take that as a good thing. You get to see and hang out with the locals. Lots of places for food around the area. Try the pork leg rice for lunch in the corner coffee shop. Marco Polo's Travellers offers breakfast for you in the morning. However, if you want to be adventurous, try kolomin and Chinese pork bun in any of the coffee shops in the neighborhood. Good luck!.

It's no wonder they are highly rated. The place is clean and well maintained, rooms are clean and beds are comfy. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. They also provide delicious free breakfast everyday, so it's well worth the money to stay here.

I'll definitely come back whenever I'm in Kuching again, haven't seen everything it has to offer yet.

We stayed in a private double room ('Spring') just for one night as we were passing through Kuching. It was a very comfortable stay in a decent sized room. There were plenty of shared bathrooms, although fairly basic.

The owners were helpful with orientating us in the city and giving us good recommends of where to eat (go to Top Spot if you like seafood). The breakfast is self-service but a decent selection for a hostel. The location is good as accessible by taxi from the airport and 10 minutes walk from the main part of town.

Wow! What a place! Honestly one of the nicest guesthouses and some of the kindest owners I encountered in 3 years traveling Asia. Marco Polo's is a little haven in Kutching. Tucked behind a corner near the bus stop, the guesthouse is in a great location, immaculately clean, very inexpensive, there is there is a great atmosphere owing to the slow drift of backpackers through the doors and Georgette and Sam's hospitality is second-to-none. The information and help they provide regarding Kutching, Sarawak and beyond, is invaluable (and Sam's late-night discussions about life, love and anything else are a must!). And, lest not forget the Marco Polo breakfast! Prepared for you even despite a 5am start for a National Park or similar, Georgette will accommodate your breakfast needs with a delicious 'spread' and the best bread/kaya (coconut/egg jam) in Kutching! I can not reccomend Marco Polo's enough. I hope you are both well - terima kasih !!!

My friend and I were on a short trip from Hong Kong to Sarawak. We were warmly welcomed to Marco Polo by the owner, Sam. He gave us an overview of the history of Sarawak and recommended us the best of the areas outstanding offering. The location is a short taxi ride from the airport, a 15 minute walk from the center and minutes from the bus stop for Bako National Park. The hostel itself is very cosy and had a homely atmosphere, reflected in the cute 'living room' area. Breakfast was great and we mostly ate at a food court full of amazing seafood very near by. Sam kindly directed us toward an independent guide, Desmond, to take us along to a traditional longhouse for two nights which was also a very worthwhile experience. Des was incredibly knowledgeable and even spoke the local tribal dialect, so it was a great experience, and a good bit cheaper than the standard tours available. Would very much like to thank Marco Polo for their hospitality - I would genuinely rate this place to be one of my favourite hostels! :)

Room Tip: We stayed in a dorm and it was spacious with comfy bunks.
