Classic backpacker. Comfortable and clean. Includes simple breakfast (toasts), free wifi, good value for money, convenient location. friendly and helpful staff, comfy common area. Only offers shared bathrooms.
Rooms are very basic, just a bed and night stands. Most rooms don't have a window, but ask for it in your booking and you might get lucky.
The towels aren't automatically provided, but ask for them too and you'll get it for free.

I went to this place after it had been recommended by a friend.

True, the upstairs rooms probably are ok and good value for money and the common room is nice BUT I stayed in a 'dorm' which was in fact a room with three single beds.

The 'dorms' are on the ground level, and I think they had been flooded before or something. The smells of humidity was the first thing I noticed when I entered. The room did not have any windows, the air condition did not work properly, the toilet on this floor did not flush.
Also, the wifi was not strong enough to work in the room.

This lodge might be ok if you have a room upstairs, but don't stay in the dorms.

I also don't really see why this hostel got a certificate of excellence, there are much better lodges around.

Oh and the staff ripped me off for my tour to the village center - the return fare is supposed to be 20 ringit, not 24!!

We stayed here for three nights. Fortunately we had a large room with a window because we got the impression that most rooms don't have windows. There was one shower and one toilet for the whole floor. The airco in our room didn't work very well so it stayed quite warm at night. The whole place is very warm. It's not extremely clean and a little frayed around the edges. We met a backpacker who stayed in the dorm and moved out because it was in a very damp cellar without windows. Even though we booked a trip through the host and asked for help several times we were never asked how we'd experienced things. Very impersonal. But.. inexpensive. If you're not expecting much and don't want to spend much this is a good place.

To be fair, we didn't spend a lot of time here as I have family in Kuching who took us out and showed us around for most of our stay. But for our time here, our large room was everything we needed with a comfortable bed and nice light from a big window. I was surprised that we never had to wait to use the shared sinks/toilet/showers which were always kept clean. It took a little figuring out to realise you need to flick a switch to turn on the hot water but that was no big deal.

The other facilities looked great with plenty of guests looking like they enjoyed the communal lounge area. It was a shame we didn't get to settle in more here but enjoyed it nonetheless. For a couple hours we did get to walk around the neighbourhood and found it was in a great location, nearby to the river. Also loved it for it's quaintness The reception also helped us to pre-order our taxi to get the airport early in the morning. We'd have no hesitation recommending Wo Jia and will stay here again the next time I'm in Kuching.

A clean, comfortable lodge with excellent facilities in a convenient location. The lodge is on the waterfront in kuching, it has an amazing communal room overlooking the river - great open views. The guys who run this place are really helpful, full of information about the area, and how to reach the national Parks/onward destinations. The rooms are clean and roomy , breakfast is 24 hours , free wifi and internet. Highly recommended.

It's easy to reach a decent selection of bars and restaurants from Wo Jia as it is directly on the waterfront. Many of the city attractions are just a short distance away, as is the bus station for access to Bako National Park and Kuching Central. We requested a room with external windows (no extra cost) which made it a little brighter but otherwise the room was large, bed comfortable but it lacked any other furniture. The wifi was pretty good and stable, the shared bathrooms were small but functional and it was good to have access to a kitchen if you wanted. The staff here are really helpful and deserve all the positive reviews they receive. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend Wo Jia if you are on a budget and like to meet other travelers.

i dont wanna complain about the location because it's located really well, walking distance to everything, right across the waterfront. The staff also friendly and nice but why the room so dark? we got a room with a dim light and one red lantern ala japanese ramen shop in the corner of the room. The worse was the lantern is full with spider web and dust. At night we can't sleep peacefully because we can hear the footsteps even when the one who walk really tried their best to keep it quite. No blanket just one thin and not-so-big towel. i dont know what was wrong, i really love their lobby, but the room, toilet and shower? well, you know. The price is good but i think i can get better room with that price in Kuching.
