Theres no doubt that the Hilton Kuching is a lovely hotel. From the very welcoming lobby to the excellent on site restaurants and the location it all looks to be excellent. And while you're not in your room trying to sleep - which is, really, why you need a hotel room, it IS a good hotel.
However, the building is definately starting to show its age. During our stay we were very happy until our first nights sleep. The plumbing in the hotel is obviously very old and zings, whilstles honks and squeaks all night. With every tap turned on, shower had or toilet flushed during the night the plumbing makes it presence known.
When travelling with a very young family sleep is of paramount importance. And thats why - even though the hotel is to all outward appearances perfect - it falls down in the area you need most - the ability to have a good nights sleep to alloy you to enjoy your holiday or be at your best for business.
By all means this hotel is a bargain stay, and do try it out, but make sure to take the earplugs and I cant recommend it for young families or those who sleep light.
Local to the hotel highlights include a relaxing ride on the sampans on the river, the Brooke cafe in the waterfront park and, if you're there on a sunday, a visit to the eye opening local sunday markets!
