Staying In Kuching Hilton after many years as a regular guest has not changed my mine to try any other hotels in Kuching , new or old.

The staff will greet regular guests by names and you just fel so much at home.

The executive longue is just simply the best in the City and the comforting factor goes beyond good cocktails and scenic riverfront - the friendly staff!

Try and you won't regret.

When I last visited Kuching, I was a backpacker and had just finished school. That was 20 years ago. The Hilton was THE place to stay then and it still is. It is a landmark in its own right, on the river in the centre of town. Good restaurants and shops are close by, and the lovely waterfront esplanade along the river's edge, is just across the street below. I found my room to be spacious and well appointed, with a wonderful view that I looked forward to each evening when the sun set above the Sarawak river. The lobby is large and the restaurant where breakfast is served, the Waterfront Cafe, overlooks a pleasant lush tropical garden. The selection of both hot and cold dishes is quite splendid, with the bircher muesli, fresh fruit selection and yoghurt being my favourites. The swimming pool is large and provided me with a refreshing opportunity to cool down. All the staff I encountered were helpful and polite and always offered their assistance. I spent three nights in Kuching, just enough time to visit the interesting museums and historic sites, wander around the streets to view the colonial architecture and chinese shophouses, catch a boat to the other side of the river, and spend a day hiking in Bako National Park. My regret was that I did not know of the Batang Ai Longhouse Resort, managed by Hilton, a 4 hour drive from Kuching. By all accounts, it looks quite splendid. Another reason to revisit Kuching yet again.

Room is clean, large with great river view but dated. The staff were helpful and friendly. Disappointed with the buffet breakfast, limited selection as compare to other Hilton hotels.

If you go to Kuching do not expect too much. Really basic town in Malaysia with very average sights. But a very good starting point to explore the wonderful environment of Borneo. If you are looking for comfort in this city choose the Hilton. Looks like a every Hilton in the world. But the level of Hilton Standard meets expectations. Rooms are standard - could be in US or elsewhere, but clean. What this hotel lacks is a personal touch. Staff could be better trained by international standards. Do not be surprised that staff forces you out of breakfast room after breakfast hours sharp. No exceptions. But food was very good. During the day and evening this hotel is a place for local businessmen do have lunsch or dinner or just drinking. But overall if you not intend to stay days it is a very good pick especially if you start an Asia Trip from here.

5* luxury close to everything in Kuching.
Situated right by the river with stunning views from the room (we stayed at the 8th floor overlooking the river).
You can walk from the hotel to practically all interesting locations in Kuching. Breakfast buffet was incredible!
If I really need to pinpoint something not entirely excellent it would be the price level of restaurants and pool bar which are a bit over-priced.

We found the Hilton Kuching to be a slight let down but as we had arrived in Kuching from Singapore we were probably a little biased. The rooms (and most of the hotel) were dated in terms of decor b ut the rooms were large and relatively well appointed (for Sarawak). Ther staff were very helpful, there is a reasonable selection of eateries and bars within the hotel (which is good as Kuching was very disappointing!) and we had a nice bowl of fruit in our room on arrival.

Overall this a standard Hilton hotel in a not so good area
