When the taxi stopped us at the hotel entrance, we were a bit surprise as they was no lobby there and we have to took lift to "M" level for their reception floor. Later i was informed they were undergoing renovation at lobby and temporary moved the reception to upper levels. It was a weird feeling without the lobby, just like staying in hostels in Hong Kong. After check-in and paid only RM23 to upgrade our room to deluxe with seaview, we went in the room and started to like it. It was spacious, equiped with flat screen TV and have a nice seaview. The toilet was clean and bed was very comfortable. The next morning, we booked the trip to cultural village for RM80/pax with the help of their staffs, very helpful and friendly. The only problem we faced was having to wait for seats during breakfast time as there was full of people during 8-9am. Food was good with lots of varieties, including some local snacks. Location is another plus point as it was very near to waterfront, main bazaar, shopping complexs, topspot seafood, etc. The sister hotel (Magharita hotel) is just opposite and it has better seaview as along the beach.

plus: location, comfortable & modern room, good service
minus: need to pay for internet access, busy breakfast

We stayed for 6 nights. Currently the hotel is undergoing renovation work. This didn't really affect us other than the temporary dining room being a bit cramped. The hotel seems to cater mainly for asian business customers. The western food available for breakfast was not great. Our bedroom was nice and spacious. The problems seemed to be with the staff who, whilst friendly, did not seem to be very customer orientated. For example on arrival we were asked what local newspaper we would like. We asked for the Borneo Post but every day we were given another paper. We did speak to several members of staff to try to correct this but to no avail.

Really exceptionally well trained staff - a five star experience in this regard. Fabulous breakfast buffet. Rooms are slightly worn but nothing terribly major ( though, my fridge didn't work). Renovations are ongoing; no major noise issues; though during the day they were busily working on the new look.

The only issue that I found puzzling was the absolutely freezing temperature within the hotel - the lobby and breakfast restaurant were ice boxes. In my room, even with the airconditioning turned off, it was still icy. I finally pulled out a thick jacket to keep me warm as I read one night. Maybe it's a renovation issue; or is it possibly a cultural difference where, with global warming, some tourists are becoming more used to "sensible temperatures" indoors rather than the blasting cold .

Nice enough, handy location next to a shopping centre and one block from the nightclub/bar strip. Currently undergoing needed updating.
Breakfast was fine and staff fine, gym equipment needs replacing as does the pool furniture but I would recommend this hotel to others.

I originated from Sarawak, and really wished to stay in that hotel since my childhood. The, the opportunity knocked after more than 15 years later, and it's fully sponsored.

The room was clean, with enough emenities (without DVD player, high speed internet connection was charged by hour), and no complain for business center.

The swimming pool for this hotel was really well maintained and had good view over the city, and, the location, simply one of the best. The hotel is within walking distance from good delicacies (such as Pandungan Road, China street, old town area) and tourism spots (such as Little India, State Museum, Fort Margherita etc.).

A little bit of flaw- room service missed my room twice in my four night stay, but I think, being ammended by the honest staffs who returned my battery charger (RM100++) the next day after my check out. Overall, it is a nice place to stay for business, and I believe, for a sweet holiday too.

As a customer to the hotel, I was very disappointed with the services of the restaurant for Japanese Buffet.

Not worth of spending there.

We stayed here after bad experience at Bako Park, so tried to find a room at Hilton but it was fully booked.

The hotel is not new (formerly was a Crown Plaza) and not very modern, but everything worked good and we stayed 2 nights without any problems.

Staff very nice, very good breakfast.
