The main reason we came to Kampung Muara Tebas was to visit Ching San Yen temple (a.k.a. Muara Tebas temple). Hence we decided to have lunch there as well.
We drove for approximately 45 minutes to get to Muara Tebas from Kuching (about 27 km) - go as far as the road takes you, it terminates at a dead end where you will see both the restaurant and the temple. You could park in front of the restaurant. Due to lack of space, we parked in front of a villager's house (paid RM3 which was what he asked for).
Muara Tebas Seafood is one of the two restaurants in the area (the other restaurant was closed that day). It's built over the water and has a nice view. We chose to sit in the innermost part of the restaurant, i.e. nearer to the sea, so that we could enjoy the breeze. From where we sat, we had a good view of Ching San Yen temple, the jetty, docked fishing boats and the sea.
Food: We ordered steamed fish, a vege, rice and drinks for the two of us - the bill came up to RM45 which I thought was expensive. It was a really long wait for the food to arrive although there were only two other occupied tables at the time (despite reminder). Even people who came later were served earlier than us. In the end, the steamed fish was overcooked ... so disappointed :(
