The main reason we came to Kampung Muara Tebas was to visit Ching San Yen temple (a.k.a. Muara Tebas temple). Hence we decided to have lunch there as well.

We drove for approximately 45 minutes to get to Muara Tebas from Kuching (about 27 km) - go as far as the road takes you, it terminates at a dead end where you will see both the restaurant and the temple. You could park in front of the restaurant. Due to lack of space, we parked in front of a villager's house (paid RM3 which was what he asked for).

Muara Tebas Seafood is one of the two restaurants in the area (the other restaurant was closed that day). It's built over the water and has a nice view. We chose to sit in the innermost part of the restaurant, i.e. nearer to the sea, so that we could enjoy the breeze. From where we sat, we had a good view of Ching San Yen temple, the jetty, docked fishing boats and the sea.

Food: We ordered steamed fish, a vege, rice and drinks for the two of us - the bill came up to RM45 which I thought was expensive. It was a really long wait for the food to arrive although there were only two other occupied tables at the time (despite reminder). Even people who came later were served earlier than us. In the end, the steamed fish was overcooked ... so disappointed :(

p/s Our visit was in April 2012 and this review is a resubmitted one.

This is one of the best locations to have seafood in Kuching. Enjoy the river view from the chinese temple. You could also see the Kuching skyline if its clear enough. Then down to the restaurant for dinner by the riverside.

Love the location of the dining site. It was quite relaxing, sitting and dining by the river. Treated to fried rice with shrimp, crispy omelette with 'oyster', stir fry veg with garlic and a fried fish based on the owner's recommendation. The food was freshly cooked and tasty. The fish was not too oily, which was good. normally, i prefer steamed fish but thought i have fried for a change. The standard pretty much meet the expected standard for Kuching seafood. It was good.

Although, i was left very thirsty a few hours after dinner. The suspect was the omelette for being too salty but yet so tasty. It was most likely to be well over the daily recommendation. luckily, i dont have it too often. Tis not good to have too much salt.

I would return to dine here again for the view and location. In terms of quality of the seafood, its pretty much on par with the other seafood eating places in town and Buntal.

This place has been getting rave reviews, and whilst there's no doubt it's good it's not
outstanding. Ok, by Kuching standards possibly so. It's similar to kampong buntal on the santubong peninsula. What sets it apart for me is the temple on the hill. Go there before sunset for
the views over the river - very picturesque (if a little industrial round the edges) and be aware
you will be asked to pay for parking if the locals are patrolling - RM 2 for us - but they might try
and get RM5 from you. It's a sad and irritating issue you have to accept if you wanna go to Muara Tebas. Distance from Kuching waterfront is approx 45 mins drive with a clear run. If you are prone
To mossie bites take spray as some around!

Food is great. Mostly seafood dishes served right from the sea not too far from where it situated. Perfect getaway for a moment.

I try to visit Mura Tebas several times during my visits. This has got to be the best sea food restaurant in the Kuching area - so very fresh - strainght off the boat.

It's a good place to go at lunch time as you can tie it in with a walk up to the Greenhill Temple - enjoy the great views across the river.

It servers one of the best O-chien (fried oyster omlet) I have ever tasted.

Lobster stir fried rice for 2 people rm31.00.
