If you make a trip here, in one of my favorite places on earth, and want a quick introduction into Sarawak culture, Sarakraf Pavillion is the place to visit.
Appart from a excellent restaurant on ground level, they offering homestay too. All the rooms are beautiful and delicate, decorated with sarawakian handycrafts.
Sarakraf Pavillon has it all in one place. You can watch traditional weaving, buy carvings, beads or pottery etc. You can eat your dinner in a traditional sarawak-decorated room, out on the green porch beside a sizzeling waterbed or in the super modern designed part of the restaurant.
You have to search a long time for a staff so dedicated to the place and sarawakian culture. Beeing so friendly, fun and helpful, made the stay pure joy.
The restaurant is a chapter for itself. The food-philosophy is based on fusion cooking. Bringing old recipies together with new eliments such as thai. And the food is excellent! Try Laksa or Laksiam. Mouthwatering! All the dishes on the menue is an taste-explosion and leaves you with an urge to come back for more.
This place is worth the trip!
