“Beach Sunsets Just Steps Away!”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

Its like camping out, indoors!

This area, Damai Beach, is surrounded by high-priced resort hotels. BB Bunkers is a good budget alternative.

You could easily spend a week here, plenty to do in the area:
- Boat trips from Permai Rainforest Resort
- Walk or bike the trails along Mount Santubong
- Hugely popular Sarawak Cultural Village
- Sometimes there are open air concerts nearby
- Golf at nearby Damai Country Club (open to all, and very affordable)
- Walking along Mt Santubong, walking back along the road is no worries, there is a sidewalk (of sorts), and street lights all the way.
- Rent kayaks or mountain bikes nearby
- Next to a 7-11 for snacks, food court for lunches or dinners, or try one of the 5-7 better restaurants in the three resorts nearby.
- Nearby is Escobar club, with dinner and drinks. Below, and on the beach, another bar offers great views.

Bring: camera! your shower shoes, soaps and toiletries. They charge for a towel. Bring your breakfast needs. They provide hot and cold water, fridge, microwave, cups, utensils. They have umbrellas you can borrow.

Secret Tip...don't tell anyone! Next to the Bunkers is a 7-11. Their is no alcohol available there. However, diametrically across from 7-11 there is a souvenir shop. Inside the shop there is a cooler. Inside the cooler there is beer, 7MR/can. Do with this information what you will.

We all loved our stay here! We had the place to ourselves most of the stay, and it was so clean, quiet and comfortable! The shared/openness of the place was a little unsettling to start, having children to consider, but it was safe, secure and friendly, and we would return! Thank you to Farhah, Peter and Alfred for makin our stay great!

I had this whole place to myself. I booked through agoda and got a single pod at the top. Found the a/c to be a bit cold, so used my sleeping bag. There is a food court and 7-11 close by. There is also a dorm option which i didnt realise when booking online. Found the pod at the top to be warmer than below. They have an indoor clothesline in the bathroom, hot showers, free drinking water. I got the k15 bus from kuching to santabong village and then got a ride for the remaining 4km to here on the back of a scooter. To leave you can get a shuttle from cultural centre across the road earliest 1.15pm or the damai tourist beach resort next door at 9.15am. 12rm. I stayed here to do the mt sunabong trek. You can also do walks at the permai rainforest resort. Saw some little black monkeys there.

Located at Damai Central and just walking distance from the beach. A great place to chill with family and friends. The place is cosy with an amazing TV room for you to just relax. Reasonably priced with Mount Santubong behind for those adventurous enough to climb. Great place for a getaway with a convenience stall, bar and seafood restaurant conveniently located near BB Bunkers. Definitely recommended for those travelling in big groups and those that enjoys quite time for themselves =)

Located at the heart of Eco trourism for Kuching, this little place is ideal for the likes of people looking for a simple place to stay and recharge before heading out to the beaches and rainforest as well as mountain trails, to families who need a place to rest and relax for their family outing.

Brought my family of 4 to the property to enjoy the beach of Damai, the Bunkers has given us a nice place to rest for the kids, far better and more convenient than the other resorts and properties around.

Room Tip: We are all in the same room. =)

I call it Kuching secret getaway as its only 35kms away from Kuching town. Good place to kick-back and relax - with the sea in front and Mount Santubong behind.

1. Not your average cheap backpackers, BB Bunkers is actually very tastefully designed. Love the beanbag TV room!!
2. Nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle of town ; travelling time is approx 30 - 40 mins by car.
3. Accommodation / beds are nice (not lumpy at all) and afforded nice privacy with the drawn curtains. Get the upstairs bunkers near the TV room, affords better privacy as the stairs leads only to your bunk
4. Cool idea as it provides a personal locker that is only opened using a RFID bracelet (don't lose the bracelet as the fine is pretty steep)
5. 7-11 is literally next door, grabbed all my toiletries and snacks from there
6. Food choices are limited - food court a stones throw away. Did see a BBQ pit available but didn't explore further due to lack of time
7. Has a decent pantry which has hot water and microwave. A hotplate maybe to toast bread and buns?
8. Bring thicker clothes or an additional pullover ; got chilly (didn't need the aircond) what with the fresh mountain air nearby + sea breeze

Room Tip: 1. Book early and get the bunkers upstairs especially the corners. Gives you better privacy especi...
