A week spent in bliss.

We booked a beach villa which was fabulous, but after a few nights were upgraded to a Spa overwater Villa which was just sublime.

For a complete “switch off” break which gave you the option should you want it to get involved in lots of activities you’d be hard pushed to find a better resort. We tried a few of the restaurants but found ourselves back in the Wine Bar more than once finding the cheese and wine tasting to be just fantastic as was the evening in the Wine Cellar with the resort's sommelier and a five-course meal (book in advance you don’t want to miss this… oh and don’t drink the sommelier’s wine by mistake like I did).

We didn’t eat at the underwater restaurant (which was something we really were looking forward to before getting to the hotel) as we found the quality of the food at the “Atoll Market” buffet to be outstanding but we did pop our head in and it looked every bit as good as the pictures suggest.

The deep see fishing was well organised and I’d recommend it.

Finally, as you’d expect the food and drink is not cheap but you’d not expect it to be. The “sports” room was the only poor aspect of the resort but we only found ourselves there on our last day while waiting for pick up.

Rangali islandis absolutely fantastic and I can only recommend it to any couple; scubadivers and honeymooners in particular.
Starting with the friendly reception and luxury lounge (with free massages) at the airport, the scenic flight in a twin otter waterplane, and the personal assistant who was even a young lady from Germany (where we also come from) through to perfect service, fantastic food, beautiful villas and stunning dives, this resort is recommendable to anyone who is willing to afford the price.
Our favorite restaurant was the mandoo spa restaurant.

The Conrad Rangali Island is definitely a tiny slice of paradise, to be enjoyed by those who need to relax and truly, completely get away. There are a lot of negative reviews here that I feel are unwarranted and I wanted to put my professional (as a travel agent) two cents in. I suppose the best way to go about it is component by component, so...

GETTING THERE - We flew Qatar Airways (excellent service, great business class!) from NYC, through Doha, to Male, a long way to go but well worth it for the solitude. The staff at the airport was very helpful and we were checked in for the sea plane, and taken by van to the sea plane dock. Conrad has a lounge there that is very confortable and the service starts there with fruit juice being brought to you and a selection of snacks. The wait time for our sea plane flight was about 15 minutes then off we went! The flight was relatively short (about 30 minutes) and enjoyable, passing over other resorts along the way.

ARRIVAL - We arrived well before check in time and were greeted immediately with a cold towel by our Island Host, our personal concierge for the duration of our stay. She brought us to reception and we chatted with her, booking dinner reservations and spa treatments (we already knew what we wanted, it is not necessary to book immediately upon arrival inless you are booking one of the small restaurants) and by the time we were done our room was ready. We were booked in the standard Beach Villa and our bags were already in the wardrobe when we arrived.

ROOMS - I can only speak to the beach villas, beautiful and spacious but there are definintely some design flaws. When it rained hard, there would be puddles in the bathroom. You had to make sure the wardrobe doors were shut at all times or the air conditioner would turn off after a while. There were ants as well, nothing too bothersome but they were there. For two people, there was plenty of room and the outdoor bathing area was to die for. There was a little courtyard in between the bedroom and bathroom areas with a small fountain which we had turned off because the tinkling sound was too loud when we slept. A couple issues but nothing that was too much of a pain that it distracted from the awesomeness of it all.

FOOD - Delish! Atoll Market had a comprehensive spread of different cuisines for breakfast, all of it fresh and very good. Rangali Bar was the most reasonably priced and also so good. The pasta with bolgonese was so good I had to have it twice. Mandhoo (the healthy spa restaurant) was surprisingly salty but also extremely tasty. Be aware though that they recommend ordering two dishes per person because courses are small to keep it healthy but depending on what you order you're racking up the calories anyway. Worth it though! Vilu was disappointing but had a superb and lengthy wine list! Dessert was also good here but I would think of skipping this one.

ITHAA - the underwater restaurant gets its own heading because it is well worth the money. Yes, it is very expensive. Of the 8 courses, all were amazing, two were utterly divine. I don't eat cheese and they made slight changes to the dishes that included cheese for me (tofu instead of goat's cheese in the soup, fruit plate instead of cheese plate for the 7th course). The setting was an experience in itself, fish all around, even two eels coming out to find their own dinners. VERY cool.

ACTIVITIES - The diving and snorkeling is unparalleled and should not be skipped. We didn't do much of anything else except read on the beach! Though there were plenty of other offerings in terms of excursions and water sports like jet skiing, paddle boating, and kayaking.

SERVICE - everyone on staff was very warm and accomodating. The attentiveness of your Island Host depends on who gets assigned to you. We had issues getting a few things from our Island Host but another couple we met heard from theirs on a daily basis, just checking in.

SPA - Wonderful. Got the two hour Indigo treatment with the 4-hand massage at the Overwater Spa (they also have a second spa, the Spa Retreat). Will never go back to two hands again!

WEATHER - Spend the extra money and go during high season. The resort is small enough that even full it will never feel crowded. The weather for us was a bit spotty, rainy days alternated with sunny ones (we were there mid-end of September), and when you travel all the way across the world you will definitely prefer to have sun all the time!

This is not a 5 star hotel. But you would honestly have to be quite uptight to get truly bothered by any of the few shortcomings. If you can go with the flow and are more happy to be far away from the hustle and bustle, enjoying the perfect scenery, then this place will fit the bill perfectly.

Yes, it is expensive. But when you realize that EVERYTHING has to be imported, then it makes a lot more sense! Fill up on breakfast and bring some snacks and nutrition bars to snack on throughout the day for lunch if you're on a budget. Or be sure to save enough money so that you can enjoy your holiday without the worry.

You feel like you're the only people in the world here. The water was so clear I could see sting rays swim by while I was on the treadmill in the gym. I would make the 25-plus hour trip (for New Yorkers anyway) again in a heartbeat.

We booked a 10 day holiday at the Conrad Rangali Resort as we were looking for a relaxing break with snorkelling and diving possibilities for our 16 yr old son. From the moment we touched down at Malé airport and were taken to the Conrad Lounge to await our sea-plane departure until the moment we left, everything was absolutely perfect.
We had been upgraded to a deluxe bunglaow. The bungalow complex was beautiful, we had our own plunge pool in a tropical garden, we loved the outdoor shower and bath areas. The beach was really well maintained. As we were in low-season, the main Atoll restaurant was closed for dinner. We ate often at the bar restaurant which was the most reasonably priced. The Sunset Restaurant and Mandhoo and Vilu restaurants were more expensive but we splurged a few times. The Koko Grill and Underwater restaurant were definitely too pricey for our budget - but we knew the Maldives would not be cheap. Despite being a completely muslim environment, the wine on offer is really impressive and the waiters are incredibly knowledgeable about what to drink and what to recommend. They have been extremely well trained The food was always delicious and breakfast was amazing with a choice of breads that I have never seen in my life. Fresh fruit juices, hot breakfast, curries, sushi - were all fresh and delicious. We used the spa twice and both times were amazing too. Our son did his PADI while we were there and we were impressed by the quality of the instruction and infrastructure. We stuck to snorkelling along the house reef which is absolutely stunning and had enough corals and fish to keep us going back everyday. The personnel were all lovely, kind, warm and efficient, We had two different Island Hosts and they were both great at their job, even coming to get us at one of the restaurants during a storm so we wouldn't get wet. We really enjoyed the Quiet Zone and Pool on the "honeymoon" island, this was added quite recently and is a great place to chill out and relax. The send-off on departure by the Island hosts is quite wonderful, they also organised a guide to show us around Malé as we had quite a wait for our departure and this went really well too. Saving our pennies to go back ...

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Conrad Rangali for our honeymoon and really could not fault it. We stayed in a beautiful and very well equipped water villa which was situated on the smaller of the two islands and was about a 15 min walk from the main island, although there is also a faster dhoni boat service which runs regularly up until midnight. We were really pleased that we'd opted for the water villa as this island is quieter, has a nicer beach/pool area and a fantastic restaurant called Vilu where you can get free cocktails and drinks between 5-6pm if staying in a water villa.

One of the best things about the resort in the huge choice of restaurants. We really enjoyed every restaurant we ate at although Vilu was the best in our opinion for it's food and fabulous staff and atmosphere. The only slight disappointment was Ithaa which we visited for a lunch set menu, despite being more expensive the food and atmosphere wasn't as good as other places. Everywhere else; Mandoo, The Wine Bar, Sunet Bar and Grill, Rangali Bar and Atoll were very good indeed. Atoll provided a very good buffet breakfast with a huge amount of choice and very attentive service. Rangali offered a cheaper option for dinner than the other restaurants, but the food was still very good. They also offer a happy hour from 6 to 7pm where all cocktails, beers, spirits and soft drinks are half price. The restaurants are quite expensive so we would advice looking at restaurant prices before going so that you're not surprised but we felt it was worth every penny and we actually spent a lot less that we'd planned for as they seemed to offer a lot of free drinks and happy hours, we were surprised that other reviews said that they felt like rangali was just out to make as much money as possible, but we didn't feel like this was the case at all

We were lucky with the weather in that it was perfect every day of our stay until our day of departure when storms delayed our seaplane to Male airport. We flew direct from the UK with Sri Lankan airways. The only alternative offering direct flights was British Airways but we were concerned about strikes. We would not recommend Sri Lankan Airways, the service was incredibley poor, and many others on the flight thought the same. We went the last 6 hours of the flight without being offered a drink, they had no real system in place and seemed to regularly forget who they'd served and who they hadn't.

Overall we had a fantastic experience which was largely due to the fabulous location and impecable service.

Finally getting around to writing a review on our amazing vacation in the Maldives. We spent a week at Conrad Hilton Rangali island and could not have asked for more. From the moment we arrived at the Conrad lounge in Male (quickly facilitated by our travel agent, Atoll Paradise), we received absolutely amazing service. We had spent a unplanned night in Sri Lanka on our way to Male so we were definitely a little tired and it was quite nice to be quickly relaxing in the lounge with a cold glass of fresh juice and a cool towel. The flight to Conrad was quite scenic and beautiful.....definitely a unique experience.
Upon arriving at the island, we were warmly greeted and quickly introduced to our island host. He helped us identify our luggage (which was promptly delivered to our room) and then we strolled over to the main reception area. We had arrived around 11am so it was well before check in time but Conrad was gracious enough to allow us to head right to our room. We had a DBV and we were definitely happy with it. It was steps away form the beach but we still had complete privacy within our villa compound. The outdoor shower turned out to be one of our favorite features......i know, sounds a little odd at first but we quickly realized no one could see us and there is something truly awesome about showering out door! The villa had all the little amenities we needed and someone we were not expecting but were happy to have provided (extra set of beach slippers, tote bag to carry stuff around in while going to the pool or beach) and the bed was comfortable too.
The service at every point on the island was outstanding, everything we expected and more. Every single staff member we encountered always had a quick smile and a courteous hello for us. On our first night in Conrad, we had the pleasure of meeting Ibrahim (manager at Rangali bar) during dinner. We just happened to mention that my wife is a vegetarian and while the food was great, her choices were a little limited. He immediately offered to introduce us to Chef K.P.Madhu and sure enough the next morning Madhu found us at breakfast and was gracious enough to offer to cook dinner for us that day! We quickly agreed and I must say, we were treated to one of the most faboulous indian dinners we have ever had! The food was delicious and we ate till we could not move. That was not the end of it though, Madhu ended up cooking for us every night and we were treated to 4 and 5 course meals with different themes every day from italian to asian, and each meal was absolutely delicious. I think the most amazing thing was Madhu and Ibrahim genuinely cared about our experience and did more for us then we could have ever thought to even ask for. My wife and I can genuinely say that we plan on returning to the Maldives and when we do it will definitely be back to Conrad Hilton for us.

I went there for a honeymoon with my husband, everything from the waiting lobby until we left was just amazing.

Once we got to the Island, our host welcomed us and asked us to wait for our room to get ready. We waited around 2 hours, which we spent enjoying the sightseeings.

The room was clean, comfy, with fresh fruit on the table (changed daily); we took the water villa, which was perfect in terms of privacy, especially me being a Muslim. Snorkeling is an exceptional experience there, especially around the coral reef in the second island, not the main.

The food was OK, there was enough Halal Food, but it was over priced just like everything else on the island. The breakfast however was great, lots of options, and delicious fresh orange juice which you can refill as much as you like.

During our stay we took the Lucky Luxury Dolphin ride, which was the best experience ever, we saw dolphins jumping just around our yacht, just like a Hollywood movie. Simply superb!

The staff was very friendly, made us feel like home away from home.

Now it's time for the little disadvantages:

-The beach was not very good, like you did have little creatures biting your toes.
-Though I do respect preserving nature, I do not like swimming having little yellow sharks -roaming around me
-Last but not least, everything was just over priced

The whole Rangali experience was out of this world, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who can afford it
