“Fab, patient and knowledgable crew”

Reviewed 9 August 2013

Just returned from Eriyadu Resort Maldives and we only made the one dive (Madigaa reef). We are PADI open water and only dive on holiday so I'm not a good diver, as in hate getting under the water but fine when under and love what I see. Peter was fabulous with me on our orientation dive and on our open water dive, he really looked after me and we had a great relaxed dive once under the water! Good kit and sensible pricing. Great system and the kit is allocated to you until the day you leave. The bill is prepared for your final day and gives you the opportunity to reduce the cost over the number of dives you fit in. When diving the reef you can even leave your kit at selected points on the island and it is collected and taken back to the dive centre for you, also your kit is loaded onto the boat ready for you too. FANTASTIC service. The whole team were full of smiles, guess that is a dream job for many, so who wouldn't smile.

Busy dive centre with 4 staff (Thorsen, Carmen, Guido and Olivier) when we were there. Dutch, German, English and French spoken with a smattering of other languages. Very safety and protocol conscious - if you want to dive outside the normal limits this is not the place for you. However if you do dive within limits, have less experience or small children, this could hardly be better. Various Padi courses seem to be offered, and the centre tends to use Nitrox32 so if you haven't got the certification, this is a good time to get it.

They do 2 boat dives each half-day, an 'all levels' boat and an 'advanced' boat. The all levels boat is just that and safe for even small children. The advanced boat requires a greater skill level. Boat and dive site briefings are thorough, clear and consistent, emphasising the limits that have to be adhered to depending on your certification. Dive sites are varied; we did about 15 dives or so and saw a large selection of manta, eagle and sting rays, various sharks, napoleons, tuna, turtles etc. Most of these things we saw on several dives, many at close quarters.

However the strength is the staff: All are very customer-focussed, friendly and do go that extra mile to make each dive a good one. There are no weak links.

Be warned, however, diving in Eriyadu is not cheap (although I doubt it's more expensive than elsewhere in the Maldives) and the costs quickly mount up.

As a final note, I have never seen such a beautifully clean tank room. Even though the compressor is several years old, it is pristine. Tanks all perfectly aligned, not a speck of dirt anywhere.

The Dive center is very well run and operated by a young but very experienced team. I would recommend diving with them without any hesitation. If you want safe diving practices and a well organized center with diversified dives and a great house reef, then Eurodivers Eriyadu is for you ! For me and all my fellow divers friends (some of them having more than 4000 dives !) it meets all the criteria. The Instructors' team (Thorsten, Carmen, Guido and Olivier) have a tireless energy and are genuinely pleasant and friendly, always available and ready to give constructive comments. The boats crews are great, every single one of them and the very helpful Rameez and Wattana do a fantastic job in the immaculate compressor room. We had our own equipment but all the rental gear is kept in A1 condition.
Relaxing yet efficient, approachable yet very competent and professional, accommodating yet maintening a high level of safety, I have nothing but praise for the whole team in the diving center and cannot wait to go back next year !
