We visited the hotel in March. The place is stunning beautiful in water and land.
A visitor should never miss the snorkeling or scuba diving. We were going for snorkeling every day and it was always fun. We had the rare chance to swim together with small sharks, turtles and other colorful fish among splendid corals. The riff is just amazing. Don't be afraid of sharks- they are small, they do not care about you and are just passing by, rushing for some business of theirs.
On the land we saw different types of lizards, big beautiful bats, colorful birds, crabs. Non of this colorful fauna disturbs the guests. The species kindly tolerated our observers' desires. Specialized staff of the hotel takes care of and breeds water turtles. They can show you and tell you how the turtles grow up, what their habits are, etc.
The hotel staff is courteous and helpful. The villas are one of a kind. We stayed in a beach front one, so we could enjoy an incredible ocean view day and night. However, one should not underestimate the back yard of the villas- there is a pool and a jet pool with a comfortable seat for a shadowy rest.
We were lucky our stay to coincide with a full moon. You cannot imagine how beautiful the beach is with the perfectly white sand under the full moon light. It is a surreal pleasure to walk on the beach or have a drink and silent chat with your girl/boy fried in such night on the porch of the villa or directly on the sand. It is possible even to make pictures without a flash, with a little professional skills, though .

If you have the chance to visit the place, please do not bring shoes. You will not need them at all. The dress code is casual. The whole point is to fully relax and not to care for clothes, shoes, accessories, make up. Just pick a frangipani blossom from a tree, smell deeply its fascinating aroma and put it in you hair. This is all you need.
Try to reserve some time for the SPA. I absolutely enjoyed it. The therapists are magicians.

The staff at the restaurant is friendly. The food can be improved though. Since there is only one restaurant (the island is small and there is no place for more) there is no competition and guests are stuck to it. My opinion is that in order visitors to come back and not to be forced to explore more options on the Maldives, to provide full exceptional service. So food is something that needs more attention.
The hotel is more suitable for couples, according to me, although there was one family with one kid.

And if you read about Maldives you will see that many of the islands may be underwater in a few years because of the constant ocean level increase. Man is a fool to pollute immensely and destroy this heavenly place the Earth out of greediness and stupid desires for power.
Anyone who visits this unique place and thinks that it is heaven on Earth should remember the morbid prognosis about its future. So, please, keep nature clean and never stop to remind it to others as well, in order to continue to enjoy the wonders of our home planet like this small amazing island in Maldives,Vabbinfaru.

Your review is descriptive and appreciative of our facilities and services. I thank you for sparing time to post your review.

At Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, we are blessed with one of the finest house reefs in the Maldives. The marine life is unique and beautiful. I am pleased that you were able to experience it. Our associates are our greatest asset. Your appreciation is flattering and motivating.

I have shared your feedback on the variety and quality of the food with the Executive Chef. He will revisit the menus with his team and has assured that your observations are attended to.

We visited this hotel in November (we went to Maldives in early November before that as well), but compared to the nice weather on the 1st occasion, we experienced thunder storms for at least 5 days out of 7 on our second trip. Unfortunately, it had a great impact on the whole experience - we were screaming how wonderful it was after first trip, and were a bit more realistic after the second visit.

We previously stayed in O&O Reethi Rah, so I will compare hotels a bit, although it is quite difficult.
Positives: Banyan Tree offered us full board. It has its own coral reef - which is just spectacular! Therefore, diving isn't really necessary, you can see everything when you snorkle - turtles, small sharks, all kind of fish! Hotel supports wildlife - feeds string rays, raises turtles in a huge cage. So, if you want to be close to real experience of Maldives - go to this hotel!
Positives: O&O has a really good kids club, huge SPA and sport facilities. 3 restaurants so food isn't repetitive. beach is more child friendly with less corals and almost no waves. It is a big island and beach villas have really big private beach area!

Negatives:
Banyan has one restaurant and therefore food becomes really repetitive despite themes. No kids club. SPA is fine, but on the smaller scale. Villas are good, but on one side villas have private beach and it is not too windy (which was important during our stay) and others don't have a good access to water - no beach and a lot of corals, so difficult to get into the water. A lot of Asian tourists and therefore the food is adapted to their taste.
Negatives:
O&O became really expensive, which would be a waste if we were to go there during the storm and rain...But it is a dream place.

Room Tip: ask for a villa which has access to the beach, rather than with a sharp sea access.

Dear Guest,

I appreciate your view of it being difficult to compare two hotels, especially when they differ in size and facilities. We take pride in our house reef which has been regarded by many as one of the best in the Maldives. The flora and fauna are unique and a must to experience.

Your feedback has been shared with our Executive Chef and we will certainly work at providing greater variety in our food offerings so that we can provide an enhanced experience despite the disadvantage of having a single restaurant.

Feedback from our guests is extremely important to us as it helps us in our endeavor of continuous improvement. We thank you for sparing time to post your review and look forward to welcoming you back to your home in the Maldives- the sunny side of life.

Regards & best wishes,

Stayed here due to the constant praises of a work colleague who has been 7 times, my wife and I first visited in February 2012 - fantastic, true peace and quiet and relaxation. Returned again February 2013 and have also already paid and booked for February 2015.
I have never truly relaxed on holiday until arriving on this wonderful atoll, pristine brilliant white powder soft sand leading from your doorway to the wonderfully coloured water with her magnificent fish of all different shapes, sizes and colours.
A truly spectacular sight, well 2 in honesty, at 5pm the StingRays come in to be fed by Mussa - you can set your watch by their arrival, the 2nd sight is the sharks at night by the jetty there are a vast number from less than a meter to over 3 meters - I was constantly told that I should swim with them, as others have, I was not too sure - I eventually plucked up the courage and did a day time snorkel with them but the highlight was an 1 hour long night snorkel amongst them it was out of this world - under the watchful eye of the hotel staff I spent an hour in the water with them, close enough to touch should I have wished - an out of body experience.
The staff are excellent and likewise the service, the rooms are wonderful as are the splash pools in the rear. Total and utter relaxation - leave your shoes behind on the speedboat that wisps you from the main island to this heavenly atoll.
A Sand Bank dinner is a must

Room Tip: Try and book a Ocean Front Beach Villa, more expensive but well worth the extra and also try for one...

I am pleased that you enjoyed the vacation at our hotel and that the villa, food and activities were to your satisfaction.

Despite our best efforts it is not possible for us to keep the resort bug free, especially during an immediately after rain. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I have noted that we were unsuccessful in our efforts to provide you with value for the money paid. Please feel to let us know what we could have done better.

The food was really awesome and I should say that it was a fantastic experience. Manta feeding was my preferred itinerary. The rooms are great for couples on honeymoon. A kind of personal beach life experience. Will be back again. Please tell the dive instructor to bring you to view the nurse shark if you are diving.

I cannot emphasize enough on how perfect this trip was for us! We had started out with a number of apprehensions regarding our stay at the Banyan Tree, Vabbinfaru – mainly due to the fact that we were travelling with an infant and were very concerned about his food, etc (no kids club at the Resort). From the moment we booked, the GM, Mr. Srikant Peri, personally endeavored to set aside all our apprehensions. I had contacted him on numerous occasions and received prompt, detailed and very assuring responses.

The entire staff at the Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru displayed exceptional standards in courtesy and hospitality….each and every one of them went more than just out of their way. They would greet us by our surname and became well acquainted with our son. Special mention goes to Waheed (for his exceptional concierge skills); Saeed (for the brilliant room service); Corrina and Julia (for going that extra mile at the reception); Mr. Wolfgang (the ‘Wolf’ – for leading his ‘pack’ so immaculately at the restaurant and bar); to the chef Rajesh – his BBQ was simply amazing as was his courtesy; and to Michi at the marine lab – an excellent dive instructor! Well done folks, and thank you!

The room (beachfront villa) was beautiful and very comfortable. All amenities very tastefully selected and definitely added that extra touch. Room service was prompt and very efficient. The food at the restaurant was very nice….buffet’s for breakfast and lunch, course meals for dinner, except on a couple of nights, which were themed buffet’s. Beautiful waters, lovely clean beaches which were cleaned and combed every day. Complimentary wi-fi throughout the resort. The Bar is very well placed and has some fine cocktails….the Mai Tai’s in particular!

Lastly, a special shout out to the GM, Mr. Srikant Peri! From the moment we arrived, everything went like clockwork. Before we could ask for something (be it the marine bay, reception, restaurant), we were informed that the GM has already arranged it for us. He went to the extent of personally cooking particular food items for our infant – something we have never experienced from anyone else in our travels thus far! He would personally meet the guests every now and then and keep the general atmosphere very ‘holiday-like’! He is truly an asset to the resort - and the profession!

One can find beautiful resorts everywhere – it is the attitude and efforts of the staff which are crucial in making the prefect holiday. Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru has this sorted! We would love to return!

Room Tip: Beachfront Villa on the sunrise side of the island, beautiful!
